DOOM

I'm not a big Gmanlives fan at all but he's right, these cutscenes are fucking weird.

All of them are focused on Debra Wilson's character either monologuing or having a one on one conversation with a nameless grunt while Doomguy is just standing in a corner staring at a wall or just straight up not even present in the scene.

Why? What does it add? And more importantly who the fuck asked for this?

I know people complained about the comedy shit in Eternal but I'd much rather watch Doomguy scare normies and fuck around with Vega instead of Debra Wilson scowling and snarling orders at faceless soldiers.
Who would have ever guessed the man currently in charge of such an iconic, popular IP would be such a fat faggot.
once again, lorefaggotry ruining shit, it all started with 2016 but that eternal part where they supposedly nod to the comics was a warning sign i noticed and dreaded, only to have my fears confirmed in TDA where they will keep to cinemaify "the slayer's wild wacky adventures through the realms" bullshit console peasants love.
Anyway, I played Eternal a few times through when it came out. You all think any of the DLC is worth checking out while I wait for the TDA to go on sale?
pirate, lol.
also eternal dlc's are alright, TDA is a whole 180 from eternal anyway gameplay wise.

I've been skipping every cutscene with no care in the world. I only will entertain DOOM Lore in reading the weapon descriptions and monster notes.

I think I already wrote it before but I'm so glad the real roided Imps are finally in NuDoom. I get ID's idea that the name Imp implies a little goblin motherfucker but those aren't Doom Imps. Doom Imps are brown and they shoot slow fireballs. I've heard some people complain about the overreliance on Green Parry attacks but I love Doom 1/2 just for the thrill of dodging fireballs so this made sense to me.

This game is a colossal downgrade from Eternal/2016. Fucking turret section, shitty dragon riding and rock'em sock'em mecha bullshit. Clamber walls with yellow paint, horribly garish bite effects on the screen, green blobs of parry shit everywhere and mandatory tutorial sections that bugged out multiple times for me. Hope all the people that got filtered by Eternal are happy now that they get to play ultra consolized parry slop.

If I wanted to get nu-doom as cheaply as possible would I get the gamepass ultimate or just normal gamepass for pc, its not really clear on the website?

Y'know, I don't usually do le steam number posts because they're petty, but this is legitimately just sad and grim.

If you can't even beat the peak of the original which released almost a decade ago and have barely hit a THIRD of the game you've claimed to "evolve" upon, then maybe it's time to admit people don't like your "vision" and are genuinely tired of further complicating the tried, tested and loved formula of "point at demon and press LMB to make demon explode".
edit: fuck me, "original". The 1993 release is the original. 2016 is a reboot.

I am generally netural/slightly positive so far on this game, some things i like, somethings i dont, and some that just bring no feeling, i've gotten about half way through the game, and i do enjoy what i've played. i will say one positive tho, i like how's there's basically no first person platforming in TDA, as i fucking hated that in Enteral. Though i feel with its high fantasy setting, this could've worked more as a Quake game. I don't regret buying it so far, but that could change in the second half. so far its enjoyable, i like it more than enteral (which i feel is overrated), but i dont like it as much as 2016, but then again, modern doom just in general doesn't match the same fun i have with classic doom

come on kiwi, you just know they will cuck out and say muh goypass sales reaching peak.
the fucking cinematics and the console focused gameplay is what breaks doom dark ages for some and i cannot blame them, in my opinion doom doesn't need high elaborate gayish lore shit outside go kill demons, it doesn't need console peasant focused dumbing down, it needs high octane action that you need to quickly identify threats and juggle their priorities alongside your ammo just like old dooms but this is incompatible with your regular consolas plebeius since that shit would melt their two bit brain, i feel like this is fucking doom 3 all over again minus the shitty flashlight and a parry system.

i don't think microjeet has confidence on quake as a branch out thing, you might seem them trying something if they do a remaster of quake3 since quake2 remaster went okay, some people have noticed a few movement issues compared to old Q2 though but that's not something your regular player will notice.

I think it's because TDA requires raytracing-able GPUs to play the game. Additionally, this game costs 80 FUCKING BUCKS. I'm not willing to shell out this much money for a game, and if they complain about "muh inflation" and other horseshit, they can fuck off. They should have managed their budget better.

Hmm, good thing Im waiting until december because it look like it needs a pretty big QoL in the form of the fast travel, while yes the game lists points of no return, theres no reason to leave the player unable to get secrets if they missed it.

The problem with TDA is that it needs a pretty beefy rig to run it. And also that it costs 80 dollerydoos. Addionally, I dont think people are into the 40k doomguy in Army of Darkness theme as much as iD thinks people are.

TDA is now avaliable on geforce now.
lol.
>the launch of id Software’s most ambitious game yet
>is worse than doom eternal

double lol.

All of them are focused on Debra Wilson's character
This fucking hideous nigger is in the game are you shitting me ...
The cast is woke as fuck, I also checked out the cutscenes (which shouldn't exist in a Doom game) and this warrior chick is everywhere, also she looks White and is voiced by this damn nigger bitch are you kidding me. This game is woke trash, and you pathetic dumb faggots did spend $80 on this slop. I thank you again for financing wokeness while claiming to be against it. Bedsides that the game design is fucking shit it has nothing to do with Doom at all. I bet they make a DLC were you play as the girl and next Doom game you play as woman.

So they turned Doom into capeshit, just like I predicted. Good thing I am never playing this or Eternal, pieces of shit that they are
Also, Debra Wilson, really? Is not even Doom sacred anymore?
Clamber walls with yellow paint
Oh hell no, if this game has yellow paint I will NEVER stop bullying it
Y'know, I don't usually do le steam number posts because they're petty, but this is legitimately just sad and grim.
lmfao, even that shitty Oblivion demake had a couple hundred thousand players during it's release window
People would rather play an uglier looking demake of a 20 year old game with Type A/B bullshit than the brand new spanking adventures of Doom Slayer the Marvel superhero(starring Debra Wilson)

im optimistic about brutal fate if only because the mod reception of brutal doom was great. might also be in dev hell though, which is very sad. creator cites lack of funds as delaying factor.

I'm only 4 levels into the game so far. It's pretty good, but it's a massive step back from Eternal.

I really didn't think I'd like the parry system, but it's actually pretty interesting in the context of a game like Doom. Maybe I'll get annoyed with it in the future though.

I also love the "dynamic" difficulty adjustments you can make. I generally love customizable gameplay options (I fell in love with them since Pathfinder King Maker)

That said, there's a lot of stuff I'm really not liking as well.

- The game takes away control of the player too many times, whether it's through full fledged cut-scenes or just a camera zoom to a door opening.

- The music is barely noticeable. I'm not going to say the music is bad, but once it actually starts going the encounter ends.

- The removal of glory kills is egregious. There are some more 'scripted' kills, but it feels lazy to have removed them.

- The third chapter (bare in mind I'm only on chapter 4) is a shitty on-rails "punch a thon" with the big mech. Once again, this is taking away control from the player and changing up the gameplay that people play these games for.

- The removal of a hub (the Fortress in Eternal) feels like a step back. The Chapter system feels like something from an early 2010's 360 game.

- Sprint shouldn't be in Doom full stop. Non-sprinting feels too slow, playing with auto-sprint is janky, and the goofy blue lines around the corner of the screen are distracting.

- The currency system feels tacked on at best.

-The story is too heavy handed. Doom has never had a "strong story" and it doesn't fit in with the universe.

-Whoever thought it was a good idea to remove fast travel from levels needs to be fired. The game isn't an open world. There's no enjoyment in re-exploring levels.

Overall it's the weakest of the new Doom games. I'd give 2016 an 8/10, Eternal a 9/10, and TDA a 7/10 (so far). It feels like they focused on all the things people didn't like about the past two games, and doubled down on it. It does nothing better than the last two games.

I'm sure we'll hear in the future about how a lot of these choices were 'mandated' after Hugo Martin inevitably leaves ID. I think this is the last Doom we'll get for a while. We'll probably get a Quake reboot next.

I’d rather ID experiment and try new stuff, see what works and doesn’t than just make the same game over and over.
