Yes and no. The lore was terrible and turned it into an embodiment of Too Bleak, Stopped Caring, delves deeply into character assassination and also poorly tries to shoehorn the rest of the games lore in. But the gameplay is really, really good so I have to give it some credit. I also will say that what I wanted Eternal to be was 2016 2, which going by the quakecon 2018 demo it would've been pretty much that. I still firmly believe that during the delay period where Hugo took charge also brought some major story rewrites with it. I always wonder what that alternate universe where it was 2016 2 looked like.Eternal wasn't that great.
Nah. He's replaceable, Andrew Hulshult and David Levy were good follow ups. I will say though that using a literal-who group for the new OST is a terrible, terrible idea.Again, no Mick Gordon = no buy.
He was 80% responsible for the cultural impact that the new doom games had. And he was irreplaceable.
Mick is way, way better with Wolfenstein IMO. TNO, TOB, and TNC (somewhat) have some of the best video game OSTs I've ever heard and is easily his best work. Him not being in Wolf3 might make me not buy it, but TNC's lower quality is a much larger part of me being wary of Wolf3.
