Remember when in Doom 2016 the game tried shoving exposition down Doomguy's throat, and he just smashed the monitor or whatever like an angry gorilla? You would think these devs would have a bit of self awareness afterwards.

That game tried to play it both ways and felt disingenuous at times: Sure, at the start Doomguy does that, but then he's also locked into a room and throw exposition at his face, and he suddenly becomes Gordon Freeman.

Really, Doom 3 is the start of it, with the game going on his way to indicate you are the reincarnation of the Martian Hero and all, instead of just a guy. The new games just picked up and exagerated, like how the problems in Duke Nukem Forever were already on 3D, but the devs turned them to eleven.

I don't recall Doom 3 ever stating that, it was a reference to the classic games. DNF had issues with the writing and everything else, but they made him a complete bastard that he was NOT supposed to be (the DLC fixed that to some degree, funnily enough).

It will print money just like GTAV. There's no reason to think the GTA Online Community won't transfer from GTAV to GTAVI.

Just finished the game and I really enjoyed it, way better than Eternal. The best change made was allowing the player to have enough ammo to play however they want instead of having to alternate constantly. The combat was better too and I love shield bashing everything. Chainshot + Super Shotty were my preferred combo.

i found it to be a boring slog gameplay wise, the only challenge is when retard arena design and retard mob placement happens.

The melee attacks are awful except the mace which is just blood punch, all of the guns except the shotguns are mediocre (I have all the weapon mastery done so i used them)

The plot is generic but not the worst thing about the game.

I love how the supposed idea is "Stand and fight" when unless an enemy straight up does not have a ranged Demon Surge it is better to bait them into using ranged attacks so you actually get shield rune procs, of course none of it matters when the game is so piss easy that you can actually murder a champion so hard that the purple stun meter can't keep up with the damage so they just fall over instead of getting an execution animation.

Edit : Its my least favorite Doom game (Unless I play Doom 3 again and decide it does indeed suck) but that just means it's above average instead of great.

Apparently Doom The Dark Ages is a flop according to certain YouTubers. They are going off of Steam player numbers. It supposedly didn't sell that well. It's brought out all kinds of people though to whine and complain. The "it's not a real Doom game" fags and it seems there are some people that are saying TDA is poorly optimized and runs poorly. I don't see it myself but what do I know I'm just a guy who played STALKER 2 and tried to play the Oblivion remaster and ended up refunding it because of shit tier performance. I clearly don't know what poor optimization looks like. Oh yeah, I also played Cyberpunk 2077 and had to turn the ray tracing off with a 4070 Ti Super.

The minimum and recommended system requirements for the game aren't that much. The minimum calls for a Zen 2 and the recommended calls for an AMD Zen 3. These series of CPU's aren't that far apart. I run the game using a Ryzen 7 3700X. The recommended requirements say 32GB of RAM but I only have 16 and from what I saw using MSI after burner the most the game used was 11GB of RAM. I have to wonder what kind of PC's these people are trying to play this game on? I hate to be that kind of guy because those kinds of guys are usually massive douche bags but if you have problems running this game it might be time to upgrade. From my experiences with it this game is well optimized. It runs fine for me I'm a bit surprise because I have the ray tracing all the way up.

Yes, it sucked and everyone hated it. Past level 0 (before you get the shotgun) everything else is either extremely minor (catching up to Olivia) or allows you to move while the voice comms play.
Now if we twist it into locking you into multiple 5 minute fights after the door mysteriously locks when you enter a room, sure.

When it first came out, it just exceeded expectations and people started to buy more of it over time. Doom eternal came out at the peak of COVID so that helped alot. I think doom is a niche game that overplayed it's hand with this insane $70 game pricetag...what the fuck.

So many good games that just came out within a month. I bet everyone is just waiting for the inevitable sale.

If you can't even beat the peak of the original which released almost a decade ago and have barely hit a THIRD of the game you've claimed to "evolve" upon, then maybe it's time to admit people don't like your "vision" and are genuinely tired of further complicating the tried, tested and loved formula of "point at demon and press LMB to make demon explode".

It seems to me that many of the game's fans didn't touch 2016 beforehand (the antithesis to Eternal) and I would have to imagine that those same people wanted Eternal 2; not an entirely different sequel prequel.

I'm sure the game will ultimately do fine, and as it was stated previously it will be seen as a divisive DOOM entry; but what really matters is that this might further push id to make the holy Quake reboot a reality.

If you mean the 1993 game, duh. OG Doom holds the mantle of the only game to have been installed on more computers than Windows at some point. Netadmins used to block it because its multiplayer would bring entire networks to a standstill. It also houses one of the oldest and biggest modding communities with new, big releases dropping every single year, even by fellow kiwis.
If you mean the 2016 reboot, then it couldn't possibly fill in the shoes of its predecessor, but it was very successful, to the point where it revived the "oldschool" FPS genre, unfortunately giving us Newblood and its trooniversally worshipped "Quakeslop" like DUSK, AMID EVIL, Ultrakill + smaller titles from other studios - HROT, Project Warlock (actually a diamond in the rough), Ion Fury and that other tranny shooter whose dev got big mad at Yahtzee for criticizing it.

Doom is a Doom game, and people wanted more Doom. What is Doom? Point gun at demon, press fire, watch demon explode.
What does Dark Ages do? Point at demon, raise shield when green projectile comes, perform some finisher with your club, sword or whatever the fuck then ride off into the sunset on your mecha dragon.
The nudoom community seemed to house two types of people after Eternal - those who wanted a simpler shooting experience (especially understandable after the travesty that was TAG2), and those who wanted a more complicated, faster one. TDA chose a route which satisfied neither. People who like shooting can't shoot, people who like fast twitchy autism are stuck with a slow, chunky tank. Mandatory raytracing, asinine requirements and AAAA price tag were just additional nails in the coffin.
I actually had so many doubts and questions I watched something I'd never watch, a nasal, annoying faggot voicing his complaints.

Knee-high, invisible, impassable walls and rotten planks blocking your progress is just icing on the cake, and apparently the shield blocks ALL frontal damage???

it has a bar that when depleted breaks the shield putting it on cooldown meaning you can’t parry, an attack from any big demon is usually enough to break the shield in one hit, so just holding your shield up quickly becomes suboptimal

Yep, as I said to that other dude, if its "woke" because it got a woman who is not pretty, so would be Quake 3, just check how Angel and Lucy look on that game, as well it having black people (Phobos, Hunter, Wrack, Daemia). If you are as anal as good old Varg was with New Vegas, you can say that "woman teach me how to shoot" is also in that game since the starter training bot is Crash.
I could get it being because "heaven is bad", but also, according to everyone i see commenting, both hell and urdak are treated as being inhabited by just aliens with some power, so its not actually heaven in universe either.

I didnt saw any problem in these games, sure the devs may be annoying, but I dont really care about the devs. The one problem I can think of Ion Fury besides the boring one liners is that the secrets are too complex for low rewards, that game really needed its megasphere/atomic health type power up, instead of making you climb over 2d lines on a building for a single medkit.

I liked Doom 2016 because it played a lot like Serious Sam(superior FPS franchise BTW, don't bother arguing because you're wrong). I hated Eternal because it was just bing bing wahoo wearing Doom's skin, Marvel cutscenes were just the icing on the cake. Seeing what nu-Doom is like, and who it's fanbase is(ie (You)) I am not even remotely interested, as I don't play games intended for retards. I am going to double down on this point if I confirm that the rumors about yellow paint are true.

The fact that Doom now has girlboss cutscenese at all is worse than a hundred niggers being fed down your throat in any other game. Nothing is sacred anymore. At least Wolfenstein had an excuse because the entire setting is politicized(or at least MachineGames made it politicized, nobody cares about shooting nazis in your average WW2 game) so it's no surprise you eventually saw pregnant black women screeching as they shot down evil white men, Doom absolutely doesn't need any of this. People also said "XYZ isn't a big deal" in New Order, but guess what, it got worse in New Colossus. Not like I expect any sort of pattern recognition from these "people", just stating the obvious, point is it always starts out small and almost insignificant.

That's another problem, iD has to figure out which lane it wants to be in and fucking stick to it. You can't just make each game radically different from one another, obviously you're going to upset those who liked game 1 or game 2. This is why I think this should be a spinoff series and not mainline games, or hell just make it a different franchise entirely. Keep nu-Doom as this Marvel writing filled bing bing wahoo, if that's what the studio and it's fans want, I don't care. Give the real FPS fans a Quake reboot, hell keep it similar to Doom 2016 or TDA even if this is what they want to do, just stop diluting what the main Doom experience is supposed to be.

I want Hexen and Heretic to rest peacefully, I hope people forget them so they're never rebooted as this kind of nothing-slop that barely resembles the games they're based off of. Hell, at this point I wouldn't be surprised if they were turned into an "open world" FPS if rebooted today, since these games played around with that concept a little bit. There is nothing hard about bad enemy placement. "Here is machinegun man that is best to charge up in the middle of nowhere" or "Here is a rock imp that spawns behind the Mancubus" or "Here is an invisible imp in front of a Cyberdemon so you can't charge it while it picks at your shield health"

Mace still hits them for a ton while basically maxing out the execution meter and nukes anything near the target..while making them infinite health. The Multi Hit aspects of the fist/fail also kind of leave you really open to attacks.

Nigger I was on Nightmare and legitimately spent the second half of the game doing weapon mastery stuff as I progressed. Unless i wanna subject myself to the silly "If you die you start over" modes there really isn't anything more to it difficulty wise.
