DOOM

It's not that they were difficult, it's that they were boring.
And its a fraction of a fraction of the game.

The "MUH PLATFORM" thing is such a stupid fucking argument about Doom Eternal, as a whole its probably less than dicking around with Elevators from the OG Doom Games.

Nah, turning DOOM into Mario is a fucking /v/ shitpost, Eternal(asshurt) fanboys deserve to be mocked.
I like Eternal, actually way more than when I originally played it, and I agree, the platforming adds nothing to the game but padding. If it was incorporated more in to the arenas and enemy placement I think it would add a lot, but as it is in the final game, it's the equivalent to walking sections in between bursts of gameplay. To the people defending them, how about this: You don't need a "breather" in a high paced action game, and if you do, you're a pussy.

There's definitely ways you could've integrated platforming into the combat but most of the ideas I can come up with make me realize I'm just reinventing ultrakill.

"Breather" in a game like this is called "looking for a secret area for an ammo refill". Does Eternal even have those? I can't recall a single one.

This, enough with trying to re-make Ultrakill. It's a serviceable game, but we don't need quite literally every retro FPS turning into one. Out of all the FPS heroes to try and make into bing bing wahoo shooty man, Doomguy is also the last one to consider, I mean he can't even jump in half his games ffs.

This is what every video game discussion ends up here as.

Because of the ammo economy in Eternal, that wouldn't even be that useful tbh. I understand you're an old-doom purist, and honestly so was I until I finally got 2016 on sale and it clicked for me. I've said it earlier ITT, but Nu-doom is much more like a cross between a Devil May Cry/Resident Evil 4 style character action game what with all combat options, and a Serious Sam/Painkiller style arena gauntlet. It doesn't fire the same neurons for me as booting up a WAD in Doom 2 does, but it is fun if you meet it on it's own terms.

That said secrets in 2016/Eternal could have been way better. I really hate this trend in modern games that secret hunting soley rewards you with collectibles. It's made slightly better in Eternal because some of them unlock "cheat codes" and level multipliers and shit to fuck around with, but it's still not stuff that's immediately impactful to in the moment gameplay. I forget, did Eternal even have the powerups that 2016 had? Would have went a long way to hide a few of those away.

Tried that Pink Valley mod. Quite disturbing and highly recommended, but I'm not sure what's going on.
Next, one thing I would like to comment. Remember Trump Doom?
I found it here:
It poked fun at leftards and a bit at Trump himself too.
Quite funny and fun to play, I remember playing it a few years ago. Today I was curious if I could play it again and where it was originally uploaded. Alas, the mod is dead:

Now it's a MEGA's EULA violation, even though it wasn't years ago. You can still find it in Internet Archive, but I don't like how someone at some point tried to delete it. I wonder if this was a reaction to Trump's second victory.

They quietly patched the game, parry windows are now smaller and there's more stalkers in the game, whatever. They really need to fix the imputs, maybe its just a skill issue on my end, but since the animations are so slow to start, I spam the button to melee or block a couple times until I see something happen, but the game queues each input so fights go really wrong around parry #3 where the game chooses to make me melee a target thats now attacking since I hit the button 3 seconds ago, then queues up all of my shield spam after the boss is already half the arena away.
I know its probably there to neuter all of the animation cancels from doom eternal but it doesn't feel good for this type of game especially with the slo-mo and the newly tweaked difficulty. There should be some sort of input cancel or no input queue.

I haven't played the game at all because I don't really care for Nu-Doom, but I've been watching the new TIHYDP of Dark Ages, and the gun that grinds up skulls and launches the fragments at lethal velocities is probably the most metal thing I've ever seen. It even has a freakin' magazine full of skulls. Whoever came up with that deserves an award.

Dont really care about her being the va, no one think Samurai Jack is woke, even through Phill LaMarr is pretty left, hell dude even defended once the whole "yes vas should be the same race of character" even through he voices non black dudes.
Call me crazy but when you hire woke retards that by default puts a check for you in the woke category.

Is it possible Doom: The Dark Ages underperformed on PC but did well on consoles?

Fuck yes it is.

AAA PC games fucking suck now. They're massive system hogs, practically force you to buy an external HD just to play them, always have shitty Denuvo built in for the first few months just to scam money out of the company, run like shit on everything except premium systems that cost more than a game console, and require you to learn low-level programming and software engineering just to troubleshoot basic fixes.

Obviously in an undeclared recession, people would naturally want to avoid all that hassle. Even though console gaming sucks and is outdated. Horse and carriages were outdated when the Model T dropped but you still had a shitload of people who couldn't afford them yet.

I was entertained by the story. I don’t have the ability to play the game, and I’m not buying a new console or a PC just to do that, because I’ve found myself only playing Hitman of COD 4 on the PS4 I have. Watched one of the few YouTube channels that string together the cutscenes in a competent way, and I mean the writers wrote him as how he’s portrayed. An unstoppable murderous person hell bent on killing every demon. He comes back from literally dying ffs. The chain gun/dragon/mech sequences look boring as shit though.
