DOOM

Heh I like this intern guy.

"I uhh..noticed you changed your mission wording to destroy the sphere not recover it."

This Swamp Stage is the singular worst designed stage in the entire franchise, making an arena where you can't see, with traps that will damage you in a game where movement is the KEY GOD DAMN MECHANIC and then proceed to put a fucking boss into it is absolute fucking Trash.

Enjoyed the DLC outside of the final boss probably, had to turn on Sentinel Armor to beat it on HMP. That fucking possessed Pain Elemental is the most bullet spongey thing I've experienced in any recent game. The Dark Lord being just evil Doomguy is the most hysterical thing. As others have said it's "No John, you are the demons" but serious. Like if the guy who made Arby n The Chief made a actual game story

Gotta be honest, I actually played through the campaign on HMP, mostly because the main game kicked my ass the first time through and I figured I might as well do that again for the DLC. That's generally how I play Doom, first time on HMP then bump it up to UV after that. And of course when I play the DLC again I'm gonna bump it up to UV. I have to wonder if that's colored my perception a bit because, barring the last boss, I thought it was mostly fun with only the occasional frustrating moment.

Also here's decino doing a deathless Nightmare run of the first level.

Oh My god I blasted a Baron of Hell with a direct BFG shot and it didn't even blink because it was possessed..

Cyber Demon + Possession is going to be miserable..

Hope the season pass goes on sale this Christmas.
Remembering what I disliked about the core gameplay of Eternal - I hate having to spend so much of the fight using the chainsaw, flamethrower or glory killing. Slows things down and makes the repetitive nature of the gameplay more obvious, as I spend a lot of time waiting for my cooldowns to pop.
It's probably because of how fast movement is in Eternal. Limited ammo with slow chainsaw and glory kills were them letting the bad guys catch up.

At least the other arenas in the stage are ok. The spirits aren’t as bad as I remember from the first time, though I’ve only done the dlc on Ultra Violence so far.

Jesus Christ that final fight may be the most challenging boss I've ever faced in any game. Hurt me plenty was virtually impossible, can't imagine it on Nightmare.

Otherwise a decent DLC. Probably not worth the $20 I spent but I've definitely wasted $20 on far more autistic (not homosexual) things.

It’s 20 for both parts if I remember right.

So I uhh

Let a Possession Ghost get into a Doom Hunter.

*Curls up into a ball and weeps* God has abandoned me.
That sounds unpleasant. Did you not have the energy ammo to kill it? I kind of like that them being there makes me use the rpg and minigun more.

So, I played through the DLC last week, forgot we had a thread here.

And man, I usually stick with HMP simply because it's usually got the right mix of challenge and 'press button and watch demons explode cruise control'. No, apparently they ramped the difficulty WAY up and the limited ammo reserves is such monumental bullshit that hurts the flow of the game.

In fact, it seems ID is hellbent on completely undermining the movement entirely, since in this DLC alone you have the required Ghostbusters shit with the worst weapon mod in the game AND you have several different enemy attacks that apply a temporary speed debuff on you like the purple shit in the original game.

Ugh, just makes me wish they went back to how DOOM 2016 did things. Even Spider Mastermind wasn't full of this kind of bullshit.

No I got murdered horribly. Nightmare Damage Boost + Possessed Damage Boost = instant death from many foes.

They didn't ramp the difficulty up at all, they just designed shitty ass levels and stuck demons that shouldn't be in rooms into them.

"Oh here is an encounter with infinite pinkies in a completely open arena so you can't actually avoid them enjoy your 70 damage"

Edit : Got to the Final boss (I presume as this is part 1)

Oh the final boss indulges in the worst mechanic of the DLC. That is hilariously disappointing that the entire difficulty of this is going to be because Possession is a fucking trash idea.

No way to meat hook jump over them?

I actually played a few rounds again and remembered why I stopped playing: the fucking annoying targeting bug with the blood punch and chainsaw. I cannot understand why blood punch and regular melee share one button. If its because peasants on the console don't have enough buttons, why does PC have to suffer that as well? It's ridiculous.

not nearly as effectively when you start getting 2 of them, 2 Hell Barons and 2 cubes hitting you with slows,

I managed to beat it but it was a miserable experience, which is frankly the entire expansion in a nutshell.
I turned Sentinel Armor on for that bullshit, I didn't even care. I was beyond fucking tired of dodging both the eyeball's orbs but still somehow getting slowed down then annihilated by those fucking Hell Knights and Pinky.

So is this DLC good or bad? I'm hearing very mixed opinions.
