That's not the real issue though.

The real issue (to which Epstein, his pedophile friends, his protectors, enablers, etc are the most overt example of how beyond the pale the elites have gone with their evil, that we know of as an irrefutable fact) is this:

Society is too far gone, too corrupt and perverted/evil and can not be saved. PERIOD. Only way to fix it, is to burn it all to ash and cinder and rebuild a better world on top of the ruins, like the old world never existed save as a cautionary tale told to kids like Valaria or Sodom or Carcosa.

BUT this is a solution that can NEVER be carried out, because of the following:

1. Burning down/destroying the status quo to replace it with something that isn't Satanically evil, even if it's just in America, would disrupt and hurt pretty much EVERYONE in society from the elites, the middle class, and the poor folk. But especially the middle class and poor, who are barely surviving (poor) or have carved out a comfortable life (middle class) and don't want to have that taken away from them for something worse: a new dark ages while the replacement society/new non-corrupt status quo is being implimented and having the kinks worked out. They want stability and a life that doesn't 100% suck, which means tacitly accepting the elite being evil shits who want them dead and destroyed and their kids raped and ruined.

2. Who gets to rebuild/decide what the replacement society looks like? Society is ripping apart at the seams globally and if we limit this debate to just America (though it applies just as well to the rest of the world), the right and the left both have incompatible views on what should replace the status quo and want one half of the nation dead/vanished/enslaved. And the other side not dictating how the world is rebuild, would rather we be trapped in an inescapable dark age rather than let their rival's world be built. Which means, why burn down society if it means the replacement is endless civil war and the rise of a fascist dictatorship who will kill you depending on your politics or skin color?

It leads to the current status quo continuing where everything is shit and the elites can and DO get away with murder and worse on a regular basis. Because allowing said evil to continue without any hope of stopping it, is considered a tradeoff people consciously or subconsciously consent to. Because the alternative is civil war, endless violence, and the destruction of a first world standard of living that ensures that the poor and middle class are comfortable and distracted so they don't dare rebel.

Long story short, blame the one two punch of 9/11 and the Great Recession, those two events knocked the wind out of America's sails and we've been basically having a collective nervous breakdown ever since.

9/11 was bad and did enough damage to our country, but people held their breath and hoped things would return to "normal", but the Great Recession was the straw that broke the camel's back, that was the signal that things weren't just going to go back to the way they were in the 90s and we've been spiralling out of control ever since.

What the Great Recession forever took away from us was our confidence in our economy and how our society functions, 9/11 hurt us but it was an attack from an external force, the Great Recession was something that came from within and even though things got better, now and forever the question will always remain "Yeah, but what's to prevent it from happening again?"

America was already on a shaky foundation after the 1960s, we almost fell apart then, but we slowly worked our way back up and got our confidence again, only for the rug to get pulled out from under us again and it's not likely we'll be able to pull ourselves back up a third time.

America is the proverbial powder keg just waiting to explode into a sea of violence, like Ireland in the 1910s.

It's a lot harder to be happy than it is to be sad. And because of the shape of the human mind it's much easier for pain to spread than it is for happiness. Because of the interconnections of the modern world, it's infinitely more easy to pass on emotions to others, and because of this, negative feelings are infinitely more pandemic.
Match this with the physically isolative effects of technology and you'll have a hot reason why everyone feels like the world is shit and they're alone in the middle of it all.
What's there to be proud of in a society if everything is really that horrible.

I think I said that in op but yours is more brief.
Now add Hillary and her email scandal, the Epstein case and double standards who get held accountable for rioting and who doesn't and ya got a society no one believes in.

The great recession wasn't the issue. Such a recession occurred in the 1980s. The difference between then and 2008 event was folks who caused the recession during the 1980s went to jail and 2008 got a bail out.
During the 1980s fun was neutral and professional. Look up abscam scandal. Where fbi made honey traps for corrupt politicians and many politicians got snagged by agents. now? FB i is taking sides and covering for dirty politicians.

9/11 didn't make people sad. It was the war made on Iraq on flimsy pretenses and the erosion of rights (black sites, warrantless wiretapping, free speech zones, ect) which made people bitter. Then Florida had a miscount of votes in bushes favor twice.

Maybe in previous decades there were dramatic events but from what I understand folks still believed and upheld the libertarian ideals America was founded upon. Now America ran by bunch of incompetent short sighted pedophiles who want to kill the middle class
