-stop caring about troonworld's niggers and focus on making your site more decentralized if you want to attract new users. you don't need to seek their approval.
-let users discuss whatever they want as long it's doom-related, community drama is NOT off-topic.
-let users have the freedom to shit-talk/criticize/discuss other people's work as long they don't promote irl harassment/doxxing.
-enable IDs to stop samefagging.
-people already mentioned it, but remove the censor filter.

If i'm being honest, I really doubt your site is going to survive. in a worst case scenario, 4chan will be back up soon and people will just return to posting there. what are you going to do about it? I think you missed the chance to create a new forum instead of yet another anonymous board. but that's just my opinion.

Rules have been revised on the site to be less stupid. Community drama is no longer prohibited, but the hard limit on dropping PII/doxxing people is final. I don't want to deal with the hassle of that.

Shit talking other people's work was never off the table. That'd be counter productive to an imageboard's design.

Wordfilters are gone. However, there is a "low effort" rule now. This is mostly to deal with spam, though, and not criticism or general profanity.

While writing this post, I implemented IDs and did a rebuild, so you should see those now. Thanks for reminding me about those.

As for survival: it is what it is. I really do expect 4chan to be gone for at least a month, so if nothing else, it gives a place for /vr/ doom to at least exist and continue working on any projects that were going on until things get back in order. If it dies once 4ch comes back, it is what it is.

I don't really see how creating a new forum would have been any better; the old /vr/ user's I'd think are craving the imageboard style, and I feel like doomer boards kinda fills the niche for not-doomworld traditional forums.

The community is every fan related site combined, so good luck keeping all of that from being derailed by drama, by making one little site. Also, Doomchan is a retarded name, that will make people avoid it like the plague. Just by choosing this as the name, you're opening yourself to drama. Think of a normal name that is central to Doom (similar to Doomworld/Doomer Boards/Doom Universe, etc.), and don't advertise it as a refuge.

How could this possibly be decent compared to other first levels? It's as low effort as it gets. Even a map with the default textures will look better because they at least go well together. I can go back to the mid 90's and most of the first level crap from that era will look better than this. Also, don't bother giving actual advice on the level design... just tell the guy to run a diagnostic and test with different source ports, because that's what this map needs the most, right? Everything else is fine about it.

Map has to be build with rhyme and reason to it. Non-linear/linear design with smart enemy positions and balanced supply of both monsters and items. Occasionally, you surprise the player with a trap or two, maybe raise some platforms for some monsters to snipe you etc.., to keep things fresh.

This is just square rooms with five random monsters very lazily put together.

It seems Troonworld at this point has gone even more insane and completely forgot the principles of what makes Doom good but hey I'm not really shocked they praise this shit since this is a hugbox afterall.

They try to pretend they understand. but end up with walls of word-salad if asked about it. On the topic of maps - most "High Level" DW janny creations look similar. I don't know exactly, but it's like they have a certain map formual they follow. I know by my own experience one can have a style (Check any of my maps, you can tell I made them). But no map I ever made looked exactly the same way the other did, even if it shares a theme. With the DW clique, I see so much of them imitate each other, I wouldn't be able to tell who made which map within a community project.

• No doxing
• No socking
• No derailing threads & boards to be off-topic
• Keep it SFW
• Do not piss off the site owner

Then you need only be lenient, yet iron-fisted.

Doesnt look like the author tried himself until he could finish it, unlike Plutonia, whose devs talked on how they kept playtesting until they could finish them without using the secrets.

In this case, the appeal is that Okuplok was once a moderately famous player who would run slaughtermaps and everyone thought he was very skilled, right up until the point where he was caught cheating (I believe he was either splicing runs or secretly TASing his demos, can't remember) and all that went down the drain. While presumably a bit high on the ego boosts he made this absolutely retarded map that was specifically designed to be the most extreme slaughtermap ever (or something) and very few people have ever played it all the way through because, as mentioned, it's retarded. Whether or not Okuplok ever played it all the way through without cheats is still questionable AFAIK.

So basically this is the Doom equivalent of a 6 hour video essay for second monitor content. I actually like having these types of playthroughs up for background noise when they're sans commentary but I'd never fucking play them. I can respect the skillset required but I just find it tedious.
