Doomworld - AKA Troonworld, a dedicated safe space for pedophiles and megalomaniacs - Corrupting the Doom community since 2016

Are you fulfilling your Queer Quota, bros? I feel like I'm kind of under-performing at this metric, to be honest.

Looks like poor Joe-Ilya is getting shat on on 4chan for making 5 maps for DBP75, basically trying to hijack the project with his gimmicky shit, which, let's face it, is not everyone's cup of tea. Well... at least it creates some entertainment in an unintended sort of way:

That last reply is a bit of self own, i'm afraid. Making 5 maps for a one-month project only shows to your haters that you have no life.

Does anyone know where can I post maps that I have left unreleased? I'm (thankfully) banned on DW. Left Doomerboards (And 40oz banned me for saying I don't want genderspecials in our community) - Russian "Doompower" is lethargic. I should just upload to the IDgames archive, then?

You could either wait for the next Kiwi project to be announced (I don't know when that is unfortunately) or try to collab with someone. Alternatively you could send the maps via pm to @Dull Pencil. I also just found out that there's a small project thread currently going on at TimeofDoom, in which you could participate with your map files.

Thank you. I'm on TimeOfDoom since it was created, it's been a little stale lately, but I'll check the project thread out. The Kiwi project is eagerly awaited.

Give it a try. Although if you are banned, I'm not sure how will that work. Another wad hosting site I know of, is doomshack run by Doomkid.
ModdB is another good one.

That's all I know.

Also, I had this idea that would piss off Troonworld and ZGroom quite a bit (and any other leftist Doom fan).
Basically, someone leads a project here with the project name: Make Doom wads Great Again!
So, the idea is you guys come together and make wads with traditional Doom gameplay that is fun and engaging. (Reason for 'you' is because I'm a busy fag sadly)
Short to medium (very few large maps) with any kind of custom textures and just classic Doom gameplay.
No slaughter, no gimmicks, no 100x trial & error crap, that kind of thing.
Any kind of format, though preferably 'limit removing - boom'.

Up to you guys.

Nightdive and Bethesda just released a new remaster, this time it's a Heretic + Hexen collection (no Heretic 2 or Hexen 2, only the Doom engine-based games), with extra new content brought to you by the same Doomworld hacks who did Legacy of Rust, and judging by the trailer, they somehow managed to make the game slow.

If you can't set up a source port in the 30 seconds it takes to set up a source port you're a retarded fucking monkey who shouldn't be allowed near a computer.

I do like A joe-ilya map in a project, maybe even two. But that's it. His maps always have some gimmick in them which is fun as part of a larger creation but I also probably won't play something that has more than two or three of his maps in. DBPs were better off as two month installments than one month.

Him always poorly reacting to any criticism is so pathetic and funny at the same time. For once, he should reconsider giving other people a chance for the future DBP projects instead since attaching his name on a project is a sign of taint at this point.
Looks like some kind of elitist lazy consolefag sperging as usual. Even a plebian can set up a source port and play it after.

So the only new items I saw from the trailer are the shield from Hexen and the blue wand from Heretic. The shield might be useful but that blue wand seems to be an afterthought like the new weapons introduced in Legacy of Rust.

Not a bad idea - where would we host it afterwards, doe?

I plan to host MM3 here as well (I'll make a thread when I'll be sure I have everything organised), we'll have an interesting lineup of projects if we continue on making them.

Him always poorly reacting to any criticism is so pathetic and funny at the same time.

Unfortunately, this is the result of the DBPs becoming sort of a circle jerk club as well. It can lead to delusions. There are good players and playtesters there who will point out issues with the maps, but the fact remains that changes are never enforced and maps rarely get rejected when they don't properly respond to the critique. Then, when the projects get released it is all forgotten... it's all "Good job everyone, now let's move on to the next rushed project"

I used to think the DBPs had a high quality submission requirement... like something to add pressure on the mappers to do their best. That's what i thought until i joined the projects myself and invested a lot of effort into my DBP68 map, only to have some newbie, who decided to make his first map for Outposts of the Wasteland, proving my understanding of the projects wrong, with his map getting accepted despite looking like shovelware trash (DBP68 Map08, for the curious). The guy received a lot of feedback, but him being a total noob, he was unable to apply it. You see stuff like this in almost every DBP now... I don't mean "first map" efforts, but just lack of quality control. I think there is a misaligned amateurish map in the new DBP too. I saw complaints about it in the thread (by Joe Ilya ironically), i haven't played it myself. And how can i forget my critique on one of the DBP73 maps, about a visible, pressable switch, that does absolutely nothing, until you explore the entire map and stumble upon 3 different switches to activate the one from before. This was one of the dumbest design choices i have seen in a while.

As for Joe, he still does a lot of odd texture choices, often misunderstanding what certain textures are supposed to represent, so it's not uncommon in his maps to see walls of crates or pipes. Not to mention that he still leaves misalignments, but maybe less than before. And then there's of course the forced gimmicks that more often than not, are just dumb... like the boat gimmick in DBP67, the pistol only map in DBP68, the chaingun only map in DBP69. It's not to say that all of his ideas are bad, i liked the "core meltdown" idea in his DBP74 map, but the level itself was poorly paced and very grindy.

I guess the point of it all is, Joe and a few others shouldn't think too highly of their maps just because they get accepted with a pat on the back, when these days all kinds of slop passes through the DBP's quality check. A few casual players, who don't even know what makes Doom fun, coming in and saying "well done" is not a mark of quality either. Just listen to the fucking critique (which in this case is people telling to just take your time and not rush your stuff) and don't think too highly of your work. Heck, my DBP maps got praised too, but i don't think much of them at all.... in fact, they are rushed jobs that i wish i had more time to develop. One month is just not enough.

Looks like the SlopDive cool kids have made edits to the actual maps in Heretic, possibly Hexen too.

The absolute hubris of these people. It seems like the Heretic re-release incorporates the Wayfarer's Tome mod as a fundamental. These are the same ivory tower faggots who've spent the last 2 decades sperging about how editing IWADs is "le bad", btw. I guess it's okay when you're getting a paycheck to rush out bugged shit so you can get asspats at QuakeCon.

I can't remember the DBP map set that started the dip in quality (I think the 60s+?) but I do remember playing many of their maps starting from their first work. Didn't bother finishing DBP74 since it became a chore to slog through but the latest one (DBP75) looks good just from the screenshots alone yet I haven't played it so I'll reserve my judgement until I finish it when I'm motivated enough.

I think one month isn't enough too if you need to polish your maps, two months might do with bug testing but taking too much time of course will demotivate the mappers themselves.

Whelp. They just got someone's Heretic mod for this and asking people to pay extra? Seriously, just get the original Heretic instead.
