Yeah she was designed in joint with the South Koreans, a true testament nothing good at all coming out with that country.
That said the CARTOON (anime is for faggots) was ok

It's even worse because of how out of place her character design is. Just an obnoxious character. She has no lines, if you play her she just whistles fucking constantly.
My biggest problem is that she violated Dota's aesthetic rules around heroes when first implemented.
Looks like an int or agi hero with her slight build/light, layered clothing
Skillset feels like an agi hero with its jumping around/movement focused abilities
Strength is her primary stat??? Strength heroes are universally big, bulky, and in charge...

I like to think they made the generalist stat classification for heroes specifically because they shit the bed with Marci

The redeeming factor about the DOTA 2 show was that at least it didn't devolve into the goyslop that Arcane Season 2 (along with the toxic fanbase that Arcane has) looks like it's going to be.

Marci is BAE

Marci is a Nissan Altima driver confirmed.

Has Dota updated any models since Drow Ranger "update?" It's pretty retarded how the last few models were behind paywa- I mean, totally grindable battle passes you didn't need to spend $300+ on for a new model.

Every new character since Monkey King looks like it came from LoL. Primal Beast is the closest thing to a character with Valve aesthetics if you look at concept art for Underlord.

better question; why is there a dog persona for crystal maiden?
Hot take: Personas were a mistake.

Honestly I miss when Dota didn't have any arcanas at all and was just basic hats. I could actually tell which heroes were which and what spells were what, but when they started adding arcanas with tons of different particle effects, it because harder to even tell what spell was what. One of the worst offenders for me was Storm Spirit, when they added the red lightning arcana and changed the sound of his ball lightning, really bothered me because he was my favorite hero and I didn't understand the point of changing his lightning color and sound. I still think some heroes shouldn't have any arcanas, like Tiny should always just be the rock man.

a lot of the basic skins are egregious. The worst thing about Arcanas is how they change the hero icons.

There's a skin for Night Stalker that's pure black and makes him look like Terrorblade at first glance. A lot of the super gold items completely ruin the heroes aesthetics, especially Earth Shaker. Underlord has super red items that make him look different because green is a core color to him.

Though I will say, this skin for Drow is abysmal:

in current game they have barely any ice effects which makes her look like a totally different character, in particular, it makes her look like Vayne from League of Legends.

I've actually mistakenly thought of her as Vayne with that skin, in particular because when moving they both keep this huge crossbow front and center while hunched over it, and the walking animation is identical.

Though Ashe from League is also basically just drow, but it helps their kit is very very very similar, so there's barely any confusion.

I never had any problems with arcanas. I wish they didn't did personas, but it's something you get used to. They should just develop new heroes in those cases. Only thing I really ever had a problem with was this set for beastmaster. I can never tell what fucking hero this is when I see the set cause it's the only set that hides his face and tats, and looks like a different hero.

Anyways, if we want to talk about a graphic overhaul to a hero. Outworld Devourer/Destroyer/whateverwe'recallinghimthisyear. needs it badly. He barely has any sets and you can tell that the sets he does have, most of his model isn't designed to be altered.

Also is this the red underlord weapon Null is complaining about?

This seems to be a running theme in Valve games, TF2's cosmetics can be painted and could easily confuse enemies on whether or not your the enemy.

This Demo for example is supposed to be on the red team.

It sucks. The green version, which I have and is very cheap, breaks the model. He holds out his arm like how you would if you were carrying a really heavy bag. It looks bad and it freezes the animation really noticeably even in isometric view as he walks. The red version is the same, but $1300 more expensive for the privilege of looking bad.

she still feels broken to play vs post patch. I don't know why both her and luna weren't hit harder. I get they probably thought mana boots changes would hurt her more but she is so unfun to play against.
I was on a team with a Sven and it's unreal how much momentum shifted in that game. I got my butterfly at like 20 minutes and brakes drug into them.

I never found sven to be that great of a hero in recent years. He's a carry where he's only really good when his ult is up, gets kited easy, requires bkb, and requires an expensive blink to function, and if he falls behind, he never catches up.

Problem with Luna Is her ult deletes everything around her and now has the spinning glaive to keep melee off her. Medusa ult does the same, plus her snakes keep everyone cc'd and her topped off on mana if you don't have to dps to kill her. Sven really got nothing when facets came out and his shard really does nothing. Phantom Assassin does everything sven does and more.

I had quit dota before Marci came out, but when I realized that this character was added because they were in some stupid dota anime I resolved to never play again. OC Donut Steel added character based on an anime. How far dota has fallen since the WC3 days.
Like she's the only one.

Haven't played in 6 years ( 5k hours of my life is quite enough) just wondering how the game is doing currently? Also refusing to watch it since they booted of grant for some arthoe screed

It feels kind of stale. There was an extraordinary amount of energy and community in the beta and early years. It completely lost all of that. I blame the cosmetics tbh.

There was a really bad period of the game, I want to say around 2016, where the game felt bad to play just starting a round. The amount of shit the game tried to force you to engage with (river paintings, predictions, compendium predictions, upgrade nags, etc etc) was just horrific and I don't think it ever recovered. During that era, and without exaggeration, every ingle part of the UI was cluttered with freemium shit. Even the center was just a huge popup ad for some bullshit they were selling. You had to close windows like it was the 1990s and you clicked on a malware site.

I also feel that the partitioning of the game pool into ranked/unranked/turbo hurt it a lot. If I play heavily over a few days I start seeing the same names.

"Kind of stale" is definitely the right word(s) for it. They have got a bit of energy back into it right now with the crownfall event but they have really struggled to keep a fresh set of new people coming in.
Earlier on in it's life there were countless animations, videos, songs and events made by the community and the prize pools for the internationals each year only got bigger. It felt like the game was unstoppable.

Personally I would pin the stagnation on a couple things:
- As the game got older Valve took way too long to make the game more accessible for new players. Even now if you are brand new the average gamer will struggle
- There were a couple patches that were around waaaay too long (Ho Ho, Ha Ha patch is the worst contender) alotta people left and never returned.
- New content stopped being added - We got (almost) all of the DOTA 1 heroes and countless events and minigames then just... nothing for a good couple years
- Valve stopped having the giga tournaments. Null is right about all the crap that was put in, but also removing every reason to buy a compendium removed all hype for what was the biggest torunament. You don't need advertising for you game when you hear stories of provincial russian gamers winning millions by playing video games
- And the biggest one personally, death by reddit - The constant complaining about smurfs and having a fair match and mmr by reddit caused so many matchmaker rules to be put in places that killed the game at the top end
There was a time when the big streamers in the biggest region couldn't find a game in 50 mins of queing and would often stream playing another game while they tried to find just one dota match. This also happend to the large group of people I was playing with and even though they made this better it also never recovered. Queue times in Aus in the higher ranks are in the 30 min range still. Can't play dota if you... can't play dota

There are a bunch of other reasons I think but these are ones I noticed directly within the large groups that I used to play with.
I don't think it is "un-fixable" and I have thoughts on what could be done and I think the game is still overall in an okay spot but it is what it is
