🐮 Lolcow Doug Jackson / SV Seeker - Boomer hubris personified, an incompetent lunatic's dreams slowly crumbling to dust because of his own poor decisions.

I can't believe the thing has floated this far.
I'm surprised too but the question of buoyancy was never really in doubt rather it's the reckless attitude of captain Doug that always appeared the greater risk. His bravado has been remarkably subdued ever since he got the boat in water, maybe he came to accept that his "sailing vessel" is unfit to sail?
Either way, without another drivetrain failure, raising his goddamn canvas for once or heading straight into a tropical storm system Doug will just mosey on down the ICW and call it a victory. Will he be wrong to do so? His boat floats in waters naysayers thought it would never reach, that it is unable to fill the role it was intended for (not research, mind, but a comfortable retirement home for Doug) is less of an issue when you get to prove the haters wrong.

I wonder do ships exchange insurance info after an accident?
Does Doug give the person he just hit his "You are a tyrant and an idiot. My freedom is worth more than you." speech in stead of proof of insurance?
Yes they do but it is a much more involved process than with a car and collisions normally require assistance so many people are likely to be involved. Even a light bump is reportable as it is way easier to sink than most realise.

If its a military ship and u hit another vessel expect at a minimum a board of inquiry but the captain and perhaps others are likely getting courts martialed.

Ugh, whatever sheeple. You’ve just been taken in by Big Anchor.

I love that Doug instinctively knows better than anyone else in his comments and berates them for giving suggestions.
"Petulant Tween Atheist" is a great attitude to have when undergoing a project of this scale. FUCK YOUR ANCHOR GOD KAREN
Time to fix the gangway which appears to have had some serious damage to the mechanism when Doug backed into a dock.
Nice blasting sparks directly into the holes of your tactical crocs, stupid.

I’m still waiting for the video of his accident. Has he ever said if he got insurance?
Yeah somewhere earlier in the thread he talks about having to go through some private insurer at an exorbitant rate. He needed it before he could put in to the river initially.

In the comments on the video up above they say boat tracking software (AIS?) shows he’s made it to the gulf. Im not having any luck but I’m not sure which system they’re using to find him.

Doug appears to have tired of the ocean after a couple days and took an inland canal route over to reach Arnica Bay. He’s very nearly to Pensacola.

Thanks to Imago and Penrowe for the vessel tracking information.

Doug posted two videos of the trip down the Mississippi.

Notes:

He has a crew of more experienced people on board , they are the ones conning the ship.

He got stuck on a sandbar due to the low water. The channel marker had been moved, but the Seeker followed the GPS course and got stuck. He was helped off the bar by some locals.

The seeker is underway on her own power. His top speed is ~5.3 knots. Any more and the prop pushes the pitch back to 0. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpjn277DI-c)

The anchor (still) doesn't work. They are tying off to trees and billboards every night.
Doug seems humbled by his recent experiences? :optimistic: He is listening to his crew and is more cautious of other river traffic.

He arrived in in Arnica Bay Alabama on 11/6.

AIS information for the Seeker stops nine days ago on 11/12.

This just in, Doug is still too big of a pussy to raise his sails. Also, reddit is gay.
I must confess, reddit is my main source for dug content, but the shitslinging is getting old
Though, it's always great to see dug duking it out in the comments

The current reddit-drama is cowworthy on it's own, but here's a tidbit one of the redditbros came up with:

Supposedly, one of 'em went out with his drone and took some snapshots, then called the Coast Guard. Story is, they boarded, but no word of result.

Doug is denying it, of course.

It'll be interesting to see if he's still there in the morning. Here's a webcam that often shows him anchored out in the harbor: Pirate's Cove Webcam

Edit to add:

The locals are aware.

Interesting that no one was aboard when the police/Coasties showed up...
