It's interesting to me how in this section and a few others, "Nigger" isn't totally capitalized like the rest of the section. I think he did a find and replace all for some word to insert Nigger instead. Considering how the word "NiggerS" is written as such, I think he overlooked the pluralization of the word he wanted to replace.

What is this guys timeline of a dissent into madness?

• Spring 2020 clearly disorganized unprofessional (student review from OP)

800 pages does write itself overnight. These complaints, that seem to start from the moment he began teaching were more than just "boo hoo teacher was boring and class was hard". At some point someone looked at this weighed the cost of finding a new post doc vs the cost of mitigating the complaints against Dr.Harris and picked Dr.Harris. This is more a stain on the US post graduate system then it is an man who could barley do his job while speeding into madness. Maybe what drove him over the edge was finishing the rat race of getting a PhD only to find an electric shock instead of cheese. That life crisis of finishing school and finally being faced with "what now?" broke him as he was forced to realize he cant run from the loans anymore.

He wasnt wokring though there in March 2021. He obviously had left after only teaching two classes. And he never was given a full position he was just a post-doctoral fellowship teacher which is pretty much glorified try out roll for a fresh graduate.

According to their database, Harris was earning 58K/yr., suggesting that his postdoctoral appointment was not a mere lectureship (as those positions earn considerably less). At least in the hard sciences, universities typically have two types of post-doc position: research and clinical (teaching). Research carries a much lesser course load since the expectation is to publish rather than teach. My guess is that this dude was in the former category, judging by his compensation and the fact that he didn't seem to teach very many classes. Anyway, my point is that for a newly-minted Ph.D., this was a pretty sweet gig. I should also note that these salary databases do not necessarily include any external funding sources like NSF or NIH, but for philosophy, I don't know what types of external funding sources are available.

As for the people saying that they don't know how such a crazy dude ever got hired in the first place, academic hiring decisions can weigh very heavily on letters of recommendation (and the reputation of who is writing those letters). I'm sure this dude's thesis advisor wrote nothing less than effusive praise. Of course, Harris had to find multiple people to write for him, so I don't know how he managed to conjure those up, lol.
