Apparently Lumic (the creator) was put in a wheelchair because he broke his foot/leg right before filming. That wasn't the original intention.

-They're still letting Rose stay on the com, and she's still making an ass of herself. I could ask why, but it doesn't really matter. This episode clearly thinks a lot higher of Rose than any sane person would....
-I told you I didn't like these fucking Ood. I don't feel like we see them too many other times after this though, thankfully. I remember it being made to be a big deal when one was coming back for Smith's era, and it ended up meaning fuck all.
-Somebody just suggested something called "Strategy 9" is that anything like "Preparation H"? I kid... Or do I?
-Aaaaand... there's a big giant open hole.
Quick, somebody get the preparation H!
-At least "there's nothing coming out." That would be an entirely different problem. XD
-Rose is begging 10 to tell her that there's no such thing as Satan, and he isn't saying anything. Uh oh... Is Christianity canon in Doctor Who?
-Acting captain Zach is now ordering them to pull out of (Ok he said "withdraw from", but mine is funnier) the black hole.
-Ok... What? The acting captain just told 10 and that other lady to come back, the other lady (who is actually a member of the crew and should know better) immediately ignores the order and asks 10 (who is not a member of the crew at all, and honestly shouldn't even be there...) what he thinks about it. I think I know what they're trying to set up, but it's dumb.
-10 is so close to tempting her to go even deeper into the hole, even against orders, before he finally says that no they should retreat. This is all still partially your fault 10.
-This one guy is about to shoot Toby.. (who if you weren't keeping track, in the last episode probably deserves to be shot.)
ROSE: What're you doing?
Old guy He's infected. He brought that thing on board. You saw it.
ROSE: Are you going to start shooting your own people now, Is that what you're going to do? Is it?
Old guy: If necessary.

Me: Ok Rose... This dude literally just walked out of the airlock, without a space suit, and covered in Satan tattoos.. I'm not so quick to believe that he "got better". But you do you queen. >.> I totally bet it won't come back to bite anyone later.
-Toby is clearly suffering something like ptsd from being around "The Devil" So Rose gives him more of the same and hugs him. lol.
-The voice of Satan/the Ood is really fucking creepy.. Right on Gabriel Woolf, you've still got it. (Or at least you did like 18 years ago, I guess I haven't heard you since then. You are apparently still alive though, so again right on.)
-This supposed Satan just said that Rose Tyler was going to die so that he can live. I apologize for slandering him previously, I guess he's the hero of this story. What a way to play against type. :3 (If only)

Two related questions.. 1. Why is this idiot giving orders? and. 2. Why are these people actually listening to her? (She's just some random stow away to them. She shouldn't even be there. And she's already proven herself to be pretty dumb.)
-Ida just suggested that they use their 10 miles of broken cable to "Abseil into the pit."
I consider myself to be reasonably well-learned, and I didn't know what the fuck the word "abseil" meant. I had to look up the episodes transcript to even see how it was spelled.
I do like that I can now integrate this new word into my vocabulary, not that it will ever come up. (Also you could have just said rappel and nothing would be different...) Moving on.
-10 was about to piss me off when he suggested that he was going to be going back up the 10 miles they fell down, "because Rose is up there"... but then he insisted that *he* should be the one to "abseil" further down into the unknown, and Ida should stay where it was (relatively) safe. At least you're acting heroic 10. I always like it when you do that.
ROSE: That's what we'll do, then. Mister Jefferson, sir. Any way out?
JEFFERSON: Just about. There's a network of maintenance tunnels running underneath the base. We should be able to gain access from here.

-Rose is still giving this crew orders, and they are still following them for some reason. Even up to and including Acting Captain Zach. I kind of feel like if any more of them die after this, it's their own fault.
-As they're moving through some vents to escape the Ood, Rose makes a comment about how ugly the ass of one of the random other guys is as she's crawling behind it... And then Toby makes a comment about how hers is even worse.
Me: Honestly? I don't really like Rose Tyler very much, but her ass (shown above) is alright. I think you might just be gay Toby...
Oh shit. The Ood are in the tunnels. I repeat, the Ood are in the tunnels!
-Jefferson just failed to get through a bulkhead before it closed. (After holding off the Ood so that the others could escape.) Then he demands that the captain let him die on his own terms by removing the leftover oxygen from the vent, killing him and presumably the ood immediately. What a chad.
-So Toby just made this face to the Ood that are chasing them.
I know it's been a while since I talked about the last episode, but several people in this crew *saw* Toby surviving in the vacuum of space with weird random tattoos all over his face and clearly acting evil. Why the fuck did they believe that he just got better? "It all got transferred to the ood" I wouldn't have.
-10 is now comparing "The Devil" to multiple other mythological beings. Including "Daemos. The Kaled god of war." No way in hell that they're ever gonna expand on that one, especially now that STD considers it to be problematic that Davros is even in a wheelchair >.>
-In theory I like what STD is trying to do for 10 right now... But this is the Dialogue...
10: I didn't ask. Have you got any sort of faith?
IDA: Not really. I was brought up Neo Classic Congregational, because of my mum. She was. My old mum. But no, I never believed.

-10 doesn't need the helmet to breathe for some reason... Also I feel dumb, but I just remembered that they reuse this space suit again more than once. I immediately remembered The Waters of Mars, but I'm pretty sure I remember 11 and even 12 wearing the same orange suit in later episodes. (If Jodie also wore it, I honestly don't give a shit)
-Rose just pulled a gun (It isn't a real gun.. it's a bolt gun I think. It was set up earlier, Zach was going to use it on the Ood until they collapsed. I just forgot to mention it because it didn't matter) on the other people in the escape ship. Zach calls her bluff by implying that The Doctor never would. *cough* Bullshit.. Then he says that they can't turn back anyway so she stops.
-At the depths of this planet, 10 starts talking about how people fought the beast and imprisoned it here... Then he makes this face.
Ah, so that's where Jodie got it from.
-Then 10 meets satan.
that's a pretty good effect, ngl.
-10 talking to "the devil" is pretty much the thing I remember most about this episode... And it's good stuff I also cant deny that.
(Also shut the fuck up Toby.)
-This is kind of dumb, but it's dumb in the right way that I love. 10 is making a lot of assumptions about this chained beast. Even if he's correct, he just assumed that he could destroy the beast's prison by breaking random pots around it... Why does he believe this? The only reason he refuses is because he also thinks that Rose would die too from this. No reason given.. (I would call that a win-win tbh lol)
-So I guess the beast's brain is inside Toby. Who could have ever guessed that there was anything wrong with Toby though?

But I've seen a lot of this universe. I've seen fake gods and bad gods and demi-gods and would-be gods, and out of all that, out of that whole pantheon, if I believe in one thing, just one thing, I believe in her.
Me: Do you really believe in Rose *that* much? Ok, that doesn't seem likely to me... I would have thought you'd know better at your age.. but alright. Rose Tyler is not the one who gets the Doctor out of this situation, if anything it is the exact opposite...
-Because 10 broke some pots, the ship carrying Rose and everybody else who escaped now gets redirected to the black hole that I just realized that I forgot to even mention until now. My bad. 10 even predicted this, but how the hell did he know? Not clear.

-I guess the way that Rose killed Toby/the mind of the beast was "smart" if you didn't think about it too much.. she used chekov's nail gun to shoot a hole in the front of the ship and then unbuckled Toby's seatbelt so he got sucked/blown into space. Right on. (Zach immediately turned on a shield that should have probably been on already to stop the rest of them from immediately dying from lack of oxygen.)
-I genuinely think that the premise of The Doctor having to deal "The Devil" being a (mostly) mindless beast, because it had already transferred its mind into somebody else to escape its prison is actually a pretty damn good idea. And I have enjoyed this story so far... But the ending is pretty anticlimactic... I still \don't completely understand how the Devil died. I guess he got sucked into the black hole, but why now?
-I knew the asspull was coming. It doesn't bother me too much, because I have enjoyed this episode and the previous one as well so far. But it was still an asspull. 10 would have totally died if the Tardis hadn't randomly fallen in front of him here. Rose would have died too though so I'd call that a wash.
ZACH: Accelerate. I did my best. But hey! The first human beings to fall inside a black hole. How about that? History.
Me: You know what Zach? I think you really did do your best throughout this entire episode. This was not your fault.

It might have seemed like I was shitting on this two parter... but I actually really liked it. It's been a lot better than most of this series so far...

Alright, black hole, sun, not the same thing, but after gaining some superficial interest in Marathon lore I'm drawing some parallels. But corellations aside, this part here does drive me nuts.
If The Beast could be "killed" by throwing it into a black hole, why was that not done to begin with? Is it to make The Beast suffer rather than allow it annihilation? Pretty poor reasoning on the part of those "altruistic" precursors, considering that The Beast still psychically influenced the entire Doctor Who universe. Could have done something about that.
Conversely, suppose it ain't dead, despite having all its physical substrates on a one-way trip towards singularity; if there's no difference in mortality rate for the incarcerated, why the theatrics of an orbiting prison when you could give it the Jjaro Special to start with and shoot it into a sufficiently large & long-lived gravity well?
I look back on this two-parter fondly, as I enjoyed seeing Doctor Who play with the pop-culture-aesthetically-Christian "supernatural" in a manner that didn't devolve into smug or condescending atheism. But damn if the entire setup doesn't make sense.

Ok but that shit isn't an excuse for Max or Cassandra. Sure Cassandra's was self inflicted due to her being a vain psychobitch but Max was literally a dude in an iron lung ass wheelchair, one a lot more "realistic" than Davros' life support chair with it's clunky and bulky nature.

yeah he got into trouble a while ago giving people shit about just "wanting representation without giving a shit about story" or some shit a while back. and if some of the leaks I heard passing around are true (some pronouns joke or some shit as well as the doctor regenerating 14 into a separate entity or some shit) the man is going to piss someone off in some shape or another.
Will say, probably prefer it to the cibnall era bc of just how safe that shit felt, Russell at least knows how to make an interesting trash fire at his worst.

He's almost like a return of JNT, who actually oversaw the latter half of my favorite Doctor's tenure (Tom Baker), but as his degeneracy came to the fore, his competence rapidly diminished and he nearly killed the franchise.
