I liked the old series because it was formatted better and done more like a stage play.

you d have a 30 minute epside to set up the setting and a few clifhanger than a resolution.

The big finish dramas are nice with we got episode more in line with that or fuck just make an 8 episode long story

I think that's the biggest shame about all of this is that I could actually see Piper playing a fun incarnation of the character. She could bring all the sex and va-voom that Jodie's incarnation lacked in spades. But in context it's just a terrible decision - the show has been doing too many nostalgia bait regenerations, too much stunt casting, and the general health of the show (and canon) is as low as it's ever been. If there were ever a time to go back to basics and prove to the fanbase that the show can still work then it's now, but I think it's just going to be constant desperate headline reaching stuff like this where big, shocking things happen for no reason other than to generate buzz on social media, consequences be damned.

I think if he hadn't brought back Tennant and Tate for the 60th specials this might be a bit easier to take, assuming that it's legitimately going to be Piper taking over the role for the next go and not just some bait and switch. Although that's even more ridiculous considering Season 3 isn't even in production yet. How much more botched plastic surgery is Piper going to get between now and the show re-entering production? She's not even going to look like the same person.



I've been looking a bit at 4chan and reddit for reactions, I really wish I had the time to mine all the salt because it's GLORIOUS. :story: Doing some graphic design for a friend today and I'm hella busy with that. I've only had time to browse /r/gallifrey a bit but I wonder what the main Doctor Who subreddit is like, and those compared to other subreddits that aren't focused on the show but discussing the episode. I can't even keep up with 4chan, it's been like 6 or 7 threads since the finale aired, it's insane.

I saw an observation that all this is just Russel living out his dream of becoming a blonde British working class girl that he couldn't achieve in his real life because he was born too early to troon out. I think Billie Piper coming back as possibly the Doctor is actually pretty cool. Granted I don’t think the gender the doctor transforms into actually fucking matters but as long as it isn’t woke “I’m a girl so I’m better than a man” bullshit like the 13th, than I’m pretty ecstatic. Unfortunate that Ncuti Gatwa was the doctor for like 2 seasons because I really do like him.

Idk, I think the whole Rogue thing was the bitch who did Loki wanting to play out her shitty Doctor Who fanfic on screen. I mean that's practically what Loki itself was too.

Piper had a real "Cashier at K-Mart who's down for a quick fuck" energy during her original run. Now she looks like one of those old ladies who hasn't aged gracefully because she had too much plastic surgery.
 
Honestly at this point a hard rest back to 2005 and just outright retconning literally everything with some "heart of the tardis" bullshit is probably a smart move. They can exile Rimjob Tranny Degeneratis and his whole clique and reinstall Ecclestone too while they're at that, I'd watch it, bring back Captain Jack as well while their at it; Chud era Who would be utter kino.
