As utterly forced and cringeworthy as Bill's sexual preferences were, at least that aspect of her character was clearly defined from the get-go. With Yas, all we got was a really vague allusion in the first episode with Not Donald Trump, then it finally being spelled out at the very end of the last episode of Flux.

I think RTD was fine with Big Finish in general, even if he didn't actively embrace and work with them in the same way that Moffat later did, he just didn't want them muscling in on the grand design he had planned out for the show.

Which makes perfect sense honestly. You want all mediums of the franchise reading off the same page and when you had not ironed all that out yet best to tell them not to use your stuff to stop confusion.
