Was on board until this. Every single new Who announcement needs to have a Monkey's Paw now, doesn't it...This new take has been colourised and re-edited down into a 75-minute version to appeal to modern audiences.
The very first “Doctor Who” story involving The Daleks, understandably titled “The Daleks,” is set to be colorized and rebroadcast later this month as part of the 60th anniversary celebrations of the franchise.
Originally transmitted from December 1963 to February 1964, the seven-part story was the second overall serial to air after the very first ‘Who’ story, the four-part “An Unearthly Child”.
Penned by British sci-fi writing icon Terry Nation, who went on to create “Blake’s 7” and “Survivors,” the story sees the TARDIS landing in a petrified jungle on the dead planet Skaro.
The original story was criticised for its length, clocking in at seven 25-minute episodes (175 minutes). This new take has been colourised and re-edited down into a 75-minute version to appeal to modern audiences. This feature-length take will also offer new sound design and will adapt Tristram Cary’s original score with additional material by Mark Ayres to fit the shorter edit.
This new take “The Daleks” will air on BBC Four on the 23rd November 2023. The original black-and-white seven-part story is currently available as part of the recently launched Whoniverse section on the BBC’s iPlayer. The new film version will join it there after it airs.
I'm not thrilled at this being colourised and "trimmed for modern audiences". Fucking ADHD riddled faggots. Sit down and watch the story.
God this reminded me I saw this thing back when it wasn't so easily available at a small scifi convention I went to in the early 2010s. They had like a late night showing of it in one of the little hotel meeting rooms on a projector screen, really chill time. it was a decent job of doing a cut-down version of the plotline, but also did weird shit like making the doctor a guy from earth that was building the TARDIS in his backyard basically. The Matt Smith daleks that never got a chance to actually show up in a main role beyond their reveal were based on the ones from this movie, kinda think if they kept the color schemes of the movie ones people would have had less of an averse reaction. But it was already colorized and rebroadcast!

I detest both colorization and "trimmed for fucking retards."I'm not thrilled at this being colourised and "trimmed for modern audiences". Fucking ADHD riddled faggots. Sit down and watch the story.
It's too bad this sucked so much because Peter Cushing was actually good. But it was already colorized and rebroadcast!

I have to admit the Colin Baker era was when I quit religiously watching. That had more to do with JNT than Colin Baker himself, but there was just so much shit in the show at that point, and that clown suit was downright offensive. The real deterioration had set in during Davison's run, although he more or less kept it together enough to keep that drunken pedophile JNT from ruining it entirely.Everyone just looks old and haggard. And Colin Baker is almost as fat as Fatrick.
Colin Baker is a treasure, he genuinely loves the show even though that pederast JNT ruined it when he was on, he would have been happy playing it forever. Also, he started getting fat after his son died of SIDS, you can see it between his first and second seasons, so you can't fault him really. Torque Wheeler got fat after he threatened to wait until his wife gave birth so he could kill both her and their daughter, so you're comparing apples and pepperoni.Jesus Christ, watching this Tales from the Tardis thing is a fucking disaster.
7 old stories framed by new scenes with companions and Doctors. And all of it is incredibly fucking low rent.
A shitty fan-made looking Tardis set that looks like it was made in the 60s era of the series.
Everyone just looks old and haggard. And Colin Baker is almost as fat as Fatrick.
And young Bernard Cribbins ( RIP ) had a role in the follow up.But it was already colorized and rebroadcast!

Whenever I hear "appeal to modern audiences," I hear "appeal to subhuman pieces of shit, humans not wanted."Was on board until this. Every single new Who announcement needs to have a Monkey's Paw now, doesn't it...
I had to rate this dumb because its a dumb idea. This serial was already made into a movie. The very first “Doctor Who” story involving The Daleks, understandably titled “The Daleks,” is set to be colorized and rebroadcast later this month as part of the 60th anniversary celebrations of the franchise.

Feels like something that should be an extra on the blu-ray, not the main feature.I personally wouldn't have really minded the colorization, but even as somebody with ADHD I disagree with trimming it down.
Agreed but the market power for the "classic" series remains remarkably strong. And financially exploitable.Feels like something that should be an extra on the blu-ray, not the main feature.
Totally the better of the two movies, that plot was exciting cut down to movie length. The Daleks was more moody, atmospheric, and world building-y, having it be crazy long helped it.
Fuck that. Cut down recon of Dalek Masterplan. What I'd love to see that no one else would ask for is a condensed version of The Keys of Marinus. 2 1/2 hours down to like 90 minutes would make people revisit it. It's one of my favorite Hartnells that gets no love. They had to write around his vacation in some episodes, there'd be easy cuts to tighten it up.
Aren't they putting basically everything on Disney Plus soon? Obviously if you'd rather not give the rat money, then yeah torrents are best. Now I have to start another watch through of classic who. Too bad a lot of the torrents (even on private trackers) are out of date often missing the lost episodes that were found in 2013 or later.
You *should* be able to find most if not all of the classic series on Newsgroups including the animated recons. Back in the day that's how I acquired it.Now I have to start another watch through of classic who. Too bad a lot of the torrents (even on private trackers) are out of date often missing the lost episodes that were found in 2013 or later.
Do they still do the Twitch watch-alongs? I was peeking in and out of one a while back and it's fun to drop in and see people making weird comments all watching The Dominators together.Aren't they putting basically everything on Disney Plus soon? Obviously if you'd rather not give the rat money, then yeah torrents are best.
