I think "cosmic intellectual hobo" sort of kinda sums up the character pretty well, the initial concept origin they worked out of of "old alien dude stole government property to travel through space with his family" works a lot better than the shit they keep tacking on. Now you just got subversion after subversion tot he point it's like "oh no no see CLARA told him to steal it! oh no no he wasn't even an old guy initially no he was a BLACK ORPHANED GOD ENTITY THEY FOUND AT SOME RANDO PORTAL AND TORTURED TO GET REGENERATION STUFF" I've been seeing people retroactively acting like the hints at him being an ex government guy for his society or some other offhand comments he's made about not being a normie of his race is somehow totally foreshadowing the timeless child shit and the connections are so vague and forced I can't fucking handle it.
 
The Doctor's at his best when he's just flying around and helping out, like Twelve said in that one finale. Whether or not they like using weapons is kind of here nor there since the character clearly has no problem with murder.
 
Since the reboot The Doctor has been psychopath that deliberately abucts women and makes them fall in love with him to ruin their relationships. I originally wrote this as a joke but now that i think about it, it's kind of weird that it's happened at least 3 times.

Consensus (including reviews earlier in the thread) seems to be that it's more of a palate cleanser than a showstopper. Makes sense, given the other two are essentially the second and third acts.

While looking at some out of context bits from the movie adaptations of the first 2 dalek stories I got reminded of something I noticed years ago again
It's only a few notes off, and I got a feeling this was not an accidental choice given the amount of 50s/60s scifi and overall pop culture shit referenced in the MOTHER games. Both the movie and the game's plot involve ayys kidnapping people with the intent of brainwashing them to help take over earth too.

Besides the obvious attempt to revitalize the show and bump ratings up? He's a good bridge for normies and newbies before Nctui takes over the role at Christmas. I've heard some theories about the Toymaker forcing the Doctor to take on the body again because it's "one of his favourites" (a meta thing about toxic fans and their refusal to move on).
 
I'm slightly amused to see that the BBC's rival network is running a Harry Potter movie against the troonfest tonight.

Even cuts The Doctor off to make sure he clarifies what the fucking alien's pronouns are. This is what they bet a reboot of Dr. Who on, It's so over, I can't believe I put faith in T Davies to not be anything other than a fucking fat poofta. He made some of the best Dr Who possibly in the last forty (or even more) years in the early 2000s. He must've been like this back then too, but the BBC must've reined him in. I should've known it was over when he explained Davros' appearance change in the charity special.

That episode in series 2 where Moaning Myrtle gets trapped as a face on a chunk of paving stone and can only talk about how she still sucks her boyfriend's cock. Must've been written by him.
