So I'm trying to bingewatch Dr. Who from the beginning and with the First Doctor I'm digging the difference his series is before everything gets more set in the formula. Like for instance 1st is so damn senile it's amazing how many mistakes he makes in his first episodes. Far cry from the invincible Doctors we'll eventually see. Which is a shame because William Hartnell is such a great actor he makes up for any shortcomings his Doctor has with his brilliant performance. Oh and he's such a crochety old bastard gotta love it. It's too bad he had health problems though. He's only 55 then but he looks way older and you can tell he's breathing hard and having trouble remembering his lines. That's why he had to exit the series earlier as he did which is good ultimately because they came up with regeneration because of that. Also I don't see Ian and Barbara get the credit they deserve as very good companions they might be the best considering they were the first. Having them teachers went hand in hand with the show trying to be educational for kids but seriously Ian and Barbara do the best they can with what they've given. I kinda dislike how later most companions were just cute sexy girls for the lads at home to just be chicks in peril. But man some of the early story arcs of First are very boring as fuck. I'm trying to get thru Marco Polo arc which is hard enough because it's audio only but geez it's seven episodes of basically nothing. I get some story arcs needed to be historical to balance out the sci fi but compare Marco Polo to the previous Dalek episodes and it's such a contrast. I'm trying to be a completionist and watch everything even the "lost" episodes but I dunno I might skip any that are Doctor loses TARDIS again and twiddles his thumbs in some history lesson ones.

Especially as they were Science and History teachers, so each could believably have at least a passing understanding of the scifi/historic settings they're in.

(Romans and Aztecs are both decent historicals)

The villain from today's episode was an incel.

They're trying to speedrun the cancellation of this show, aren't they?
I remember there being one of those in the Sontaran two-parter in Tennant's fourth season. Haven't had chance to watch the new episode yet, so I'll see how they did them later.

EDIT:
Watched the episode, yeah that plot point was silly. Otherwise it's a fine season opener and miles ahead of, ugh...Space Babies.

Was he an incel though? He dated Belinda for a year, seemed to be living a normal life after they split up, and only became a violent dictatorial robot because Belinda sold him out to the robot people things.

So, it was the woman's fault that the man she rejected turned into a mass-murdering psycho.
Nice progressive messaging there, RTD.

The same kind of progressive messaging he had when he decided to cast a drag queen as a cosmic horror

"Incel" is basically a slur for any man that doesn't roll over and accept whatever whims women on twitter demand at the time. Haven't seen the episode yet myself but I imagine it's some flavor of that.

It's funny, because it's not at all something that the villain is shown to have
The new companion yells at him for being "controlling" and shit, but the literal few minutes of their relationship we saw, he just seemed like a normal, albeit awkward guy until he was called an incel, and suddenly he's proposing to her and going "you cant wear tight clothes, and cant text after 8 PM!" like nigga what lol
Even then, trying to actually date a woman and propose to her, gifting her a thing too, thats far from what 90% of retards who are labelled or label themselves as incels would do.

Peak "inventing a guy in your head and getting mad at him". Same deal with this retarded show about the 13 year old "incel killer". Completely nonexistent, invented person, Brits then make a moral panic over this invented person. They complain about misogyny and only use it as a bludgeon against white males, meanwhile Muslims and trannies are allowed to treat women like shit with no recourse. Peak clown world. Brits were stupid to ever give up their guns.

Very much so.

It's liberal progressive standard MO. Take "systematic racism". We don't like the the racial make up of an organisation so it must be a consequence of racism being endemic. They can't actually identify any examples of racism in the organisation which should be the easiest thing to do if it's endemic to every decision made but that doesn't matter. So an organisation wide policy gets imposed (e.g. the BBC) that explicitly requires race to be a criterion in all decision making. i.e. The organisation is now systematically racist but that's OK because it's the "right" kind of racism.

There's a line at the beginning about how "girls can't do math(s)", but after that it's a lot more on the nose.

Holy cripes I keep seeing her shilled in Dr. Who articles like they're really trying to make her a thing. It's also very obvious they're burying the last bimbo blond companion and trying to distance themselves from her by pushing this one. With headlines like "she doesn't want to be here and that's a good thing" who tf are they trying to market this nuWho series to? If the rumors are true and Dr. Who really is on "hiatus" aka canceled that'll be a blessing in disguise. Hopefully it comes back better and not worse though.

Did classic Who ever give the Doctor a companion who came from like a century or more in the past? I always felt like nu-Who has missed out on the opportunity to have a companion from the 1800s or something. An alien could work too but they'd probably be less wowed by space travel (plus constantly wearing makeup/prosthetics).
Jamie immediately springs to mind. I think the modern show doesn't want to do that because people would draw comparisons to him and he's one of the best companions of the entire run.

Anyway, I saw the new episode and it was pretty solid. I'll never like having a nigger as the Doctor and the lesbo jeet companion (no clue if she's actually gay but she was a lesbian in Andor so I assume the actress is a gay street shitter) felt like needless box checking, but I enjoyed their dynamic. It's really funny to me that if Davies weren't completely pozzed by faggotry and diversity, we'd probably have some of the best Who in ages, but it's held back my a need to shove the two worst races in my face. The Al thing was a funny twist and while the incel bit was cringe, I can't complain because the guy who never gets over a brief fling but is a controlling ass is a very real type of guy who sucks and it's nice to see radfem RTD come back. I just wish he didn't suck tranny cock at every opportunity.

Anyway, I think the show's gonna get canned after this and I doubt it'll ever return. It's too expensive for the BBC to make and after all the Tumblr fangirls grew up, it's no longer popular enough internationally to get any outside backing. Big Finish will likely continue for another decade or so, but with most of the classic series cast already being one foot in the grave, I imagine their days are numbered since Doctor Who fans are mostly anti-AI fags and Big Finish already can't get Smith or Capaldi and Tennant only does one or two audios a year out of what I think is pity.

A major part of why the fandom survived the wilderness years is because McCoy and later McGann had nothing else going on and as such were able to be the face of a cancelled program and did cons and audios and whatnot. The nigger clearly has no love for the program and is probably going to be a big Hollywood star, so there's zero chance he'd be interested in keeping the show alive in the hearts of the fan base. Odds are he'll treat it as an embarrassment and a road bump in his career as he goes on to make thousands of whipipo bad movies.
