So I'm trying to bingewatch Dr. Who from the beginning and with the First Doctor I'm digging the difference his series is before everything gets more set in the formula. Like for instance 1st is so damn senile it's amazing how many mistakes he makes in his first episodes. Far cry from the invincible Doctors we'll eventually see. Which is a shame because William Hartnell is such a great actor he makes up for any shortcomings his Doctor has with his brilliant performance. Oh and he's such a crochety old bastard gotta love it. It's too bad he had health problems though. He's only 55 then but he looks way older and you can tell he's breathing hard and having trouble remembering his lines. That's why he had to exit the series earlier as he did which is good ultimately because they came up with regeneration because of that. Also I don't see Ian and Barbara get the credit they deserve as very good companions they might be the best considering they were the first. Having them teachers went hand in hand with the show trying to be educational for kids but seriously Ian and Barbara do the best they can with what they've given. I kinda dislike how later most companions were just cute sexy girls for the lads at home to just be chicks in peril. But man some of the early story arcs of First are very boring as fuck. I'm trying to get thru Marco Polo arc which is hard enough because it's audio only but geez it's seven episodes of basically nothing. I get some story arcs needed to be historical to balance out the sci fi but compare Marco Polo to the previous Dalek episodes and it's such a contrast. I'm trying to be a completionist and watch everything even the "lost" episodes but I dunno I might skip any that are Doctor loses TARDIS again and twiddles his thumbs in some history lesson ones.
