why yes if every human on Earth thinks of the Doctor at the same time he gets super powers

Davison's 5 was also quite underrated I feel. Not as wacky or eccentric as Baker's 4 and a lot more controlled, even vulnerable, in his performance. The destruction of the sonic also helped alleviate the "magic wand" effect that it had started taking on by that point in the show where 99% of problems could just be swished away via a vibrator the main character carries around. His final performance in his regeneration episode was also genuinely great.

All around a very different portrayal of the character, and I think quite a good one. He felt like an old man in a young mans body, which is exactly who the Doctor is.

The 6th doctor is fucking mess though, lmao. I think that people are more or less spot on with that era's dip in quality across the board. What in gods name happened?

I had actually forgotten how bad Colin Baker's era was. Half the stories are outright terrible and/or way too long and drawn out, the budget feels like it fell of a cliff, the doctor is dressed like a clown and is written like a ego-driven psychopath, and the whole thing feels like it had zero creative vision behind it for the entire first half, just random shit happening then out of nowhere Trial of a Time lord shows up and starts eating up everyone's remaining time. Colin's last words as the character is fucking "Carrot juice!?".

A lame gag. The 6th doctor literally ends with a joke, then a completely different actor in a bad wig bumps his head and changes into 7. Baker didn't even get to be there for his own death scene. What the fuck.

The galactic hobo.
Six was hampered by such a horrible introduction serial that salted the earth on him with fans so badly day one that it's easier for your sanity to go from Caves of Androzani to Vengeance on Varos, which is the first good Sixth Doctor serial.

JNT basically wanted to do the polar opposite of Davison (who was way too soft and nice) with the twist that we would slowly see Six mellow out over time after starting out as a right bastard. There was also talk that JNT wanted to nuke Gallifrey in the original season 23 as a cliffhanger and reveal that the Doctor was being an asshole because he had advance knowledge of the destruction of his home world and that he might die for real doing it.

Meanwhile Eric Seward, in between turning the show into an ultra violent action show, had it out for Collin day one because Seward wanted final approval on who would replace Davison and was pissed when he had zero say in Collins hiring. So he started sabatoging the show by filling every serial with one off OC characters who did everything plotwise and reducing Baker and Bryant to random cameos in their own stories, wandering around isolated from the main plotlines and only showing up at the end to steal credit for beating the bad guys. Along with having a fatalistic view over Michael Grade's vendetta against the show and believing they should do the Viking Death Ship Meme and end the trial of the time lords with a huge cliffhanger and dare Grade to kill the show

So, a bit like that parody Viz did all those years ago....

I like the art style. It's kind of a cross between Freak Bros. comics and Jack Chick.

I think JNT was well into cognitive decline from alcoholism at the time he did Six, and while it wasn't really Colin Baker's fault, his Doctor sucked. Just the ridiculous clown suit JNT insisted on wrecked the show and at the time, caused me to lose interest.

At least Colin got some well received audio dramas eventually. What did the other less appreciated Doctors get?

Dropped this after the first capaldi season. Worth suffering all the propaganda for the hot woman doctor?
Sadly no, Jodie barely got any memorable episodes. The biggest one that I can think of was overshadowed by another female Doctor who basically stole the show.

In other news, I popped round to the family's for Christmas dinner earlier and afterwards we watched the Christmas episode with Michael Gambon. I had forgotten just how good Doctor Who could be when it's written well.

The official tom baker youtube channel released this today, it's him wishing everyone a merry christmas, he then opens a christmas gift bag with the fourth doctor's scarf

Scrolling through xitter for some doctor who things, came across this. Someone screencapped a video from rtd's instagram. I guess not only does rtd like them gay, but also young too.
