Is.. is this a bad thing? I feel having a Tennant esque run only with bouncing boobs is a good thing.
I never really much liked 10 tbh.
To me, even at the best of times he still came off as a massive dick. (Who fortunately had Donna to reign him at that time.)
Don't even get me started on how insufferable he and Rose were together.

I'd agree, but I think that bouncing boobs are MALE GAZE and MUH SORE GINEY, so the BBC won't do that. Hence 13's weird not-quite-crossdressing thing.

With Rose, the change from 9 to 10 was weird. 9 was clearly a surrogate father to her, and then he changed into 10 and... yeah.
(Donna was 10's best companion, though.)

It's funny, 9 basically was for Rose what Donna became for 10, a check to the shittier parts of their personality.

And I agree, Donna is severely underrated.

I certainly feel turn left was the best of Donna's run as a companion, even if it is the BBC at it's most extreme brand removal. They took the badge off of a purgeot and it looks fucking stupid.

Well, "check on the shittier part of the Doctor's personality" has been the role of the Companion since the word go. After all, the Doctor is ridiculously OP on paper, so the best way to generate drama is with internal conflict, and for internal conflict, you need someone to be in conflict with. Which is why companions (or "friends") as the Doctor's cheering section is unengaging in the long run.

Which I have a hunch is going to be a big problem for 13 moving forward.

Not enough Art Malik in this episode. Still pretty enjoyable though.

Also I dub the new Tardis interior "crabs legs". You'll see why...

I could never hate women enough to become a feminist.

The fun twist on this plot would be to have the aliens kill the bus driver, forcing the Doctor to assume his role and order Rosa to the back of the bus. You know, having the Doctor compromise her morals for the greater good. You can also have her companions challenge her, asking if it wouldn't be more impactful if she let Rosa keep her seat. But I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that this is Chinball's version of Vincent and the Doctor and will be nothing but an hour long handjob to Rosa Parks.

An even more fun twist would be if the alien accidentally kills Rosa Parks, so the Doctor has to don black face and take on her role.

Another decent episode. The alien planet had some cool ideas and I'm still liking the new Doctor and the TARDIS crew, although I think Yas is a little under utilised and is the least interesting of the three at the moment. The new TARDIS design also looks a lot better on screen than it did in the concept art that was posted earlier in the thread.

That said, the episode just kind of ended. Art Malik was great, but he was built up as a big bad and then in the end he was like "I will never allow a joint winner of the race! MWAHAHAHAHA!!!... Okay, you asked nicely, you're both winners." which was a massive anti-climax.

Also, they doubled down on the anti-gun bullshit this episode. The Doctor fried a bunch of robots with an electromagnetic pulse and destroyed the flying toilet paper monsters with an exploding cigar so she's clearly okay with killing things, but it can't be with a gun for... reasons. Yeah, it's getting really silly and it's only episode 2. At least "The Doctor's Daughter" was midway through Tennant's penultimate season.
See this is the reason why I said they shouldn't do a female Doctor. Now every single thing they do is going to be "sexist" even if it is something totally harmless like making her a fucking doll.
Places like the Guardian will find any excuse to publish stupid shit about any media franchise. If we didn't have a female Doctor they'd be whining about sexism even louder. We're firmly in "damned if you do, damned if you don't" territory and have been for a while. Just enjoy the show and ignore the godawful thinkpieces progressive publications are shitting out. Except maybe for posting them to this thread so we can have a chuckle at them.

This episode was honestly boring to me. It felt like a version of the Hunger Games but with the competitors racing eachother through a barren (boring, bland and lifeless) wasteland instead of fighting eachother to the death and with four captives tagging along for er... reasons? I also didn't understand the Doctor's objection to using guns against robots.

When they strolled up to what looked like the remnants of a shopping centre I was expecting the revelation to be that they were on a future earth but that never came. The magical malevolent rags were silly, even by Who standards; they were nearly mummified by talking toilet paper. Then they had the whole "whelp, looks like we're gonna die ):" schtick but of course the Tardis pops into existence at just the right moment.

The Tardis' new interior looks okay. Reminds me of a beehive with some Middle Eastern window designs mixed in. And a custard cream dispenser.

Honestly not fussed about the Rosa Parks ep at this point. Also, I snorted at Chibnall's surname because I initially misread it as "Chinball", apparently as did others here.

I quite liked that episode. It had good moments between the characters, though Yas is still not much of one yet. The episode felt fun for the first time in a few years, at least in my opinion. I do get the complaint that the planet was pretty boring, and I was disappointed that it wasn't a 'future Earth' twist, but it's better than using the BBC quarry and those kinds of twists are over done anyway. They seem to be building the Tooth Fairy up as the big bass of the season. This could work out but only time will tell. Bit disappointed they shot their wad of the TARDIS this early, was hoping for a scene where the Doctor would be a bit disappointed that the companions didn't find the bigger on the inside odd due to their many travels together. Those rag things will probably come back later in the season.

Does anyone have any idea as to what the 'Daughter of Time' refers to? My main guess is that it's the Doctor herself, but the optimist in me is saying that Susan might come back (really unlikely).

I hope the next episode is good but unless they put a good spin on things, it's doubtful it would be. I wonder what the aliens goal would be. I hope it's not something cringy like stopping civil rights. That's more of a Moffat thing to do though.

It was a pretty neat episode. They managed to flesh out two of the main characters with their interactions with each other, though I'll agree that Yas was underused.

I liked those two human aliens, and I'm glad they didn't have that one guy be completely one dimensional and kill him off, which is usually what tends to happen in Who.

The TARDIS is pretty crystal-y which is kinda cool, plus it dispenses custard creams, which is an instant bonus.

For obvious reasons, I'm apprehensive about the next episode.

They even removed the time rotor, stripped all the modern stuff that Capaldi TARDIS had like the monitor and went back to something between the 8th and 10th doctor, also it now needs to use 2 levers to make it run and a pedal that for some reason dispense biscuits, the first time i saw it, it looked very Kryptonian

Still it was a good episode, and now they are creating the base of the mistery of this season with the "timeless child" thing, they did the same thing with the hybrid last time

Yeah this "no gun" shit was always cringe, but this Doctor is just going full retard with it. While previous Doctors were primarily "I don't like guns, I never use them" (even though they totally did when the situation called for it.) This Doctor is "I don't like guns, so you can't use them either." (And yeah I realize previous Doctors have flirted with that, but they also traveled with the likes of Captain Jack and River Song, who both used guns, and they were super useful then, and those Doctors never mentioned it.)

And yeah, being totally opposed to shooting a robot with a gun, but then being ok frying them with an EMP (and later outright killing the rape worms with a cigar explosion) is pretty a fucking stupid distinction to make.

I agree, the inside was quite a bit better than those pics someone posted a few pages back. (It wasn't *this* good: https://www.express.co.uk/showbiz/t...-Whittaker-TARDIS-New-Design-BBC-Dr-Who-Video though...) They barely showed it, but I really didn't care much for the new outside color of the TARDIS either.

Good episode, though the "no guns" part was so ridiculous. I don't get how killing something with fire or electrocution is any different from using a gun. Thankfully it wasn't anywhere near as infuriating as the Doctor getting made at crane operator dude for defending himself in the previous episode by pushing tooth fairy off the crane. It reminded me of when Ten ruined Harriet Jones's career for a similar reason in the season two Christmas episode. I hated these two aspects of the Tenth Doctor and I'm worried they'll be repeated for Thirteen.

Ignore the shitty Eminem music but this was the only compilation I could find of the Doctor killing people in Classic Who.

Unfortunately this is part of the cultural "move on" with what is children's TV globally. The Thunderbird remake has a no guns policy too but made the background of the 22nd century earth a lot more horrifying to compensate as to why the Tracy's are so anti-gun/weapons.

Like the semi sentient anti ship mines in space.

It can be done better but this is the BBC who would want to even understand icky guns to begin with.

So we've basically reset the clock back to '90s censorship standards where cops carry laser pistols and Spider-Man can't annoy pigeons, but worse.

I’m surprised the aliens aren’t menacing the Doctor and co with walkie talkies personally:

So in news I *think* I'm happy with:
https://www.bigfinish.com/news/v/river-song-series-6-and-7

Basically now that River has worked her way back through all of the living Doctors... (I wish they'd take her back further. BF have a decent recast for 3, Frazer Hines does as good of a 2 impression as anyone, and they already have David Bradley on tap for 1.) ...but apparently, now they're having her go back and muck around with classic episodes:

On the one hand, it's sad to see Jago without his partner, (This apparently takes place before they met properly, so it wouldn't really make sense for Litefoot to be there) but I'm always happy to see Christopher Benjamin. Really, this just makes me wish we could get more Jago and Litefoot. (I wouldn't mind seeing Benjamin get his own series actually.)
