For what its worth I highly doubt this is true but since its all over tweeter I feel it should be mentioned here. While I am still entirely unsold on modern doctor who (ever since that fucking moon episode) it would be more than a little depressing if Whittaker only had a year and a dozen episodes in the role, no matter what quality her initial run has been.

Fucking bubble wrap! I love it. It had a message about being vigilant so as to not be overthrown by the robots.. It seems that they're sticking with Yaz really caring about her family, something which seems to be of a more informed trait than a shown one.

I kind of hope this happens, because the salt would be enormous. I'd hate to wish for the sabotage of this show but imagine literally getting a series and a half, that's less than Colin for Christ sake, it'd be great to read all the bitching about it!

Series 11 is honestly not that bad and it's a huge shame that the BBC media circus and overall discourse soured 13's run before it even began. All the fandom wank and virtue signaling ended up damaging 13's image. So the BBC acting "woke" did the exact opposite of what it intended. Now because of all this not only is 13's run on the verge of being sabotaged the entire concept of a female or even a non white Doctor has been ruined.

I don't blame Jodie, the other actors, or even Chibnall for this at all.

I hope this isn't true. It's the first time I've seriously enjoyed the show since mid-Season 5 and it might be over so soon? And on top of that, according to these rumors, the worst of the new companions is the one most likely to stay? I mean if there's less people on board she might actually have something worthwhile to do. What makes me believe that this rumor might not be true is that it mentions a Christmas episode for next year, and Chibnall has expressed disinterest in doing a Christmas ep. Perhaps something along these lines could be the behind the scenes stuff that the rumor mentions?

I hear that a lot, but I've yet to hear anyone claiming she's great. If they were going the female doctor route, they should have made her a female character and not just Tennant 4.0

In her defense some of the past actors did take elements from previous doctors, like Matt Smith was inspired by Patrick Troughton and Peter Capaldi was inspired by William Hartnell and Jon Pertwee.

There is a bit of a difference between 10 and 13. 10 could border on hubristic sometimes. Like if you pissed him off he could end you too. And he was really romantic, not as romantic as 8 but still romantic. But that made him human, relatable. 13 is kinder, a bit more childlike, and has this sunny optimism that you are so afraid will be destroyed. And she’s slightly more alien than 10 but not as alien as 12. I also see her taking charge more as a leader although this could be because she has more companions than the others of the new-who era.

Really she has the parts that make the Doctor the Doctor. Uses her brain and words to get out of a situation. Opposes violence (except the occasional Venusian Akido or creepy fabric burning). Clumsy. A bit of a dork. And a leader. But even 13 said she’s still figuring herself out.

In a vacuum, I don't really see the issue- Eccleston walked after one season, and while I wish he hadn't, that was his choice to make. The reason this would be a shitshow is because the Beeb has (apparently) banked quite heavily on a #woke female Doctor #resist -ing to make the show good again, and Whittaker taking a powder would ruin that investment. (Ironically, they're holding a woman to a much different standard than her male counterparts... because equality. Checkmate, shitlords.)
So yeah, I kinda want it to happen just to see all the REEEEEE that would result.

IMO so far this season has been a lot like the previous ones. It's had some good episodes and it's had some really, really bad episodes. This isn't at all the "worst series evar" like "some" (yeah, me included) have predicted, but it's also not at all the best, even just among the past few series.

To be fair, this season has some stuff going for it that a previous ones didn't. Most notably, 2 likable companions. (Seriously, not counting Nardole, who came out of nowhere and was on the sidelines half the time, we haven't had a truly likable companion since like Rory... and even he wore out his welcome by the end of it with bad writing.) I hope Graham and Ryan stick around for at least another series. (Yaz can leave for all I care.)
It's also got something working majorly against it- the social justard shit has been dialed up to 13. That anti-gun (but explosions are fine) bullshit really derailed the early episodes. Thankfully, it seems like they've been backing off of it recently. (Probably :optimistic: on my part)

I'll keep watching for now because I have genuinely enjoyed *some* of this season (like I did with Capaldi's and Smith's later seasons)... But yeah, I do hope it improves. And I won't shed any tears if Chibby leaves next year, because he hasn't done much to fix Moffat's mess.

Nardole was the best I wish we could have had more of him and capaldi just with a different writing team.

Also I wouldn't be surprised if the rumor is true because it recently came out that BBC execs meddling was the reason why GBBO left BBC.

Speaking of Bill I wouldn't be surprised if Moffat's sudden wokeness was due to the amount of shit thrown at him by the SJW Tumblr crowd. I still remember all the non stop reeing about how Moffat was an awful racist/homophobe because Sherlock and Doctor Who series 5 didn't have any black or gay people. When he didn't budge they accused him of being unable to take criticism. When he confirmed River being bisexual they got pissed at him because he didn't have her screaming about her sexual preference every five seconds on the show. He still beats himself up to this day over the lack of representation in his earlier work.

This is proof that you should never give into the SJW crowd.

Watched this week's episode and last week's episode back-to-back. Liked them both. I really enjoyed this week's for two main reasons: the first is that it was set in a period of the 17th century which wasn't the Elizabethan era which is great because the rest of that century has been woefully overlooked by Doctor Who before now and it's one of my favourite periods of history - I studied it for A-Level.

The second is that Alan Cumming was fucking brilliant as James I and is absolutely perfect casting. I had a big grin on my face every moment he was onscreen. An issues I had with last week's episode is that Lee Mack was pretty much wasted in his role - you could've got a nobody to play his character and nothing would be different. That's not the case this week - they used the guest star really well.

The monsters were nicely sinister this week too and the roaring tree root put me in mind of old Ray Harryhausen monsters.

Ok, I was looking forward to finally seeing the Doctor having to deal with being a woman in the past where women were second class and boy during a witch hunt was the perfect time to do it. Graham wearing that hat and quoting Tarantino by mistake was funny, Ryan’s awkwardness around King James was hilarious, and although she didn’t outright say it we at least know why Yaz is a cop. I liked what they said about fear and anxiety, and how it becomes like an ailment, the fact that Becka destroyed a tree just because she didn’t like it ruining her view. And the dialogue in this episode was really good!

And I like Alan Cumming as King James. Actually no! I love Alan Cumming as King James! I want to see him come back again so bad! Can we get a spin-off of him? Can he replace Yaz?
