I'd only be even remotely ok with this if they brought in Carole Ann Ford to do a proper regeneration, (and even then that would probably be the *only* thing I actually liked about it.)

I know this is old news but...
 
The problem with axing Doctor Who is that its the one BBC production with international appeal and merchandising potential. The Chav Hour and We Wuz Queenz may be cheaper to produce, but no one outside of Britain watches that shit. Obviously, nu-Who is tanking in the ratings, but I guarantee you its still profitable. And if they actually made an effort*, they could turn it into a decent moneymaker.

*Fire Chinball, stop catering to twitter mobs, focus on the sci-fi/adventure aspects, cast a good looking doctor and a hot chick as his companion = easy win

I hate to say this but I highly doubt it's as profitable as it once was if the ratings are tanking that badly.

The Classic Who stuff though, though I believe that's still profitable but no one except twitter lunatics seem to care for Jodie or the woke garbage.

Doctor Who has a lot of potential, like, what if they did the darker twist they never got the chance to in the '90s.

Time to see if what'll happen in 1989 will happen now: cancel and wait 15-20 years. Except next time, it'll probably be a reboot because everyone is doing that shit.

You know I think the return of Eccleston will save Dr. Who. And somewhere ClownfishTV is smiling because of this. And hey at least it avoided the downfall of similar Sci-fi stuff like Star Wars (for there bad sequel trilogy) and Star Trek (for the Picard series).

It's Jodie's last season anyway, so if Chibbs goes with her we'll be in a new era regardless.

Wouldn't bank on that myself. The Davies and Moffat eras spanned two Doctors, so we may be stuck with Chibi a bit longer.

Plus, it hasn't actually been 100% confirmed Jodie's leaving, although that probably is the case. 3-4 years is generally the average tenure for a Doctor.

It's specifically stated the Ruth Doctor is one of the Timeless Child Doctors, so it won't be her unless they do some timey wimey shit or do a 180 and jettison that entire plotline which honestly wouldn't be a bad trade off but I doubt that's their plan.

The sad thing is, I actually like the Ruth Doctor as a character and I thought Jo Martin did a really good job in the role. Hell, she was more Doctor-ish in her five minutes or so of screentime as the Doctor than Jodie is most of the time. It just makes me hate the fact she's shackled to an absolutely terrible plot point even more.

When I think of a woman Doctor, someone like Jo Martin or Gomez comes to mind. Jodie is the bland middle ground where she has no character and is never wrong.

Even there I don't think that's her fault. The video she did in-character telling everyone to stay safe during the lockdown was sweet and she did a better job capturing the Doctor's character while she was ad-libbing than an entire writing staff did.

Maybe they should just get Jodie to write the show. She could hardly do a worse job than the clowns who are in charge at the moment.

I've only seen that episode once and I was so mad at the destruction of the show's history that I must have missed that, thanks for clarifying.

I've liked Tennant in all the episodes I've seen with him, but then, I've only watched a smattering of the universally acclaimed ones like "Midnight." That was really good, but almost more of a Twilight Zone episode than Doctor Who.

There's nothing left to save at this point. The show is still fucked in a way that nothing short of a soft reboot (which will never happen) could fix, and Big Finish has already been fairly decent despite some creeping wokeness lately.
