So we just completed one of the routes, Damien the Goth Dad, in the Let's Sperg thread. This triggered the ending. Allow me to give the most fairest and unbiased review here:
For starters, it runs like shit. Somehow it takes more resources then Hearthstone, and I'm sure I could compare a few other games to it, unfavorably so. This is because it uses Unity, and I don' t know why they used Unity, but whatever. Our main protagonist's inner monologue has an internal voice that doesn't match a lot of our dialogue, which creates a disconnect and makes it damn near impossible to really get into character. Some of, okay a lot of the jokes fall flatter then pancakes. Chapter 1 takes forever, clocking in at about 2-3 hours depending on personal reading speed, and the dates are comparatively short, taking about a half hour for each and there's only three for each dad. Taking the third date triggers the ending, so the amount of date content we have a meaningful impact on is limited.
The good bits: Amanda (the main character's daughter) and her dad have wonderful character interactions. In fact, a lot of the more serious dialogue is very well written. At the very least, Damien has a wonderful character arc, and while I don't know about the rest, I get the feeling that the more serious scenes are a lot better then the attempts at humor. So all in all, it's not a terrible game and actually has some good moments, but in the end, I suggest you save your $15 and buy something else. Let me do it for you, in fact, because hey, once you read all about it, no need to play it yourself, right?
I actually find it a bit pitiful that this game will be buried under its own fandom nonsense. There was potential here, but now I imagine the people who worked on this are going to end up dropping it from their resumes, and we may not see anything more from the creators for a while. Which sucks, they have potential, they just need an editor and a little more practice to make something great.
