What's the downside/costs involved with just continually moving to new hosts? i.e. move to a new one, if that one kicks you off, move to the next one etc. until you find one that doesn't suck

There are a finite number of registrars, not because technically you can even count all the fish in the sea but because they all need to get ICANN approved.

If you even temporarily use a registrar that does suck, it is able to steal your domain instead of letting you move somewhere else. Google did this to Daily Stormer once upon a time. I can't remember if they ever gave the domain back, but there was at least downtime when they froze the domain in a useless state.

Normally after moving registrars, there's a minimum wait time before you can move again. I do not know how this interacts with the registrar kicking you off, but I would not assume it works in your favor.

Time to build your own domain registrar with blackjack and hookers.
