Dreams

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
I occasionally have dreams in which I'm really bitchy, yelling at people and insulting them. I had one of those dreams a few nights ago with my mother on the receiving end of my dream self's ire.

I had 1106 negative ratings.
A certain member still has more negative ratings than that - and they're still around - so that many negative ratings wouldn't be _that_ bad.

I hate it when I have a dream that I have something awesome, only to wake up and it isn't there. I also have dreams where deceased childhood pets show up, and I think of them coming back to life like "they were just sick for awhile" and I'm glad to have them back. Then the dream ends.

Thank you, dreams, for the reminder that they've passed away. I really appreciate it. /sarcasm

Yeah, those are the worst. At least with nightmares you can wake up like, "Yeah! I survived that!"

I feel like I've been getting more vivid dreams lately. A lot of my recent dreams have felt as if I was actually there.

And then there's the ones where you're paralyzed while a shadowy figure begins making their way towards you. It's one of the worst experiences ever. Sometimes they happen when I'm napping during the day.

Last night I had a nightmare that the whole country got nuked a-la Alas Babylon. I remember talking with my mother in the yard, and looking up to see a white atomic bomb floating down in the sky on it's parachute. I turned to run away, but my mother pointed out two more in the sky in the direction I was trying to run in. When I noticed that I was dead center in a perfect nuke triangle, I just stayed where I was.

So the bombs went off and it turns out I was a relatively safe distance from the three of them. The neighborhood was still horribly damaged and there were fires everywhere, but I didn't get burned alive or incinerated on the spot. I ran to find my neighbor and best friend to be sure that she was okay. Her house was burning, but neither she nor her family were in it. They were nowhere to be found.

I ended up seeing what was going on near where the epicenters of the bombs were. There were melted people still barely alive, tattered skin, no eyeballs, you couldn't recognize if they were a man, woman or child. There were also a bunch of people who weren't as badly injured, all of them with conceal-carry weapons, killing the heavily injured ones either as mercy killings or out of fear of the sight of them. I remember one "child" being shot, only for her to reveal she wasn't a child at all when she said "tell my husband what happened" right before she died. She was so small and disfigured that she just looked like a burned child.

It turned out that the whole country had been nuked by our own government, with the politicians being pissed that the country was going to vote them out of office.

...I have a lot of nightmares about nukes but that was by far the most detailed one so far.

I had a dream I was at work and had to fight off a bunch of aliens that had lightbulbs as heads, then there's this one waitress at work who hits on me, well i think she was hitting on me in my dreams.

A lot of mine are pretty disturbing, to the extent that sometimes I don't want to go back to sleep. I had one the other night where a friend of mine made me so angry that I killed her. That was horrible. Where it got strange was when I came to dispose of the body. My solution was to turn her corpse into a cockatoo, on the grounds that the police would be looking for a human body.

Less disturbing, but recurring a lot is one where I'm at high school or university, and it's nearing the end of term and there's something big coming up - an exam, or a piece of coursework, something like that, and I haven't done it or prepared for it. I've also somehow managed to avoid going to the relevant classes all year. It's the morning of the day when this is due to happen, and my plan is to basically do it all that morning. A similar one, which is common among people who are involved in theatre, is that I'm due to go on stage in a show, and I haven't learned my lines or been to rehearsals, so my plan is, again, to wing it. These are fairly obviously anxiety dreams and usually happen at stressful times in my life. Adding to the strangeness is that quite often in these recurring dreams, I'll remember that I dream about this very scenario a lot. Sleep-Me somehow never makes the connection.

A pleasant-at-the-time dream I had last week was one involving someone I had a bit of an unrequited crush on about a year ago. In this dream, the young lady in question explained that actually, she did find me very attractive and would I like to go out sometime? I awoke in an extremely good mood with about five seconds before realisation kicked in.

Two nights ago, I dreamed that my former stepmom tried to steal my car because she was pissed off that it had windows and was nicer than whatever kind of car she had in this dream.

I recently had a dream that I was playing a sequel-crossover of the games Yume Nikki/Ib/OFF with my mom. My mom thought I was mentally ill for liking these games. As if she doesn't already think I'm mentally ill in real life...

Two or three nights ago, I managed to somehow dream of encountering my biological father. Needless to say, I honestly wonder if that is suppose to mean something since I haven't kept any contact with him for a few years.

I dreamt that I was in the middle of a desert. It was hot and oppressive and the sun was beating down on me. Out of nowhere, Nick Bate appeared in the distance and he started running at me. I ran away from him but he didn't let up. The sand was hard to run in and my feet kept getting bogged down. Sick Nick eventually got really close to me and I saw that he had hair like Anton Chigurh's. He was also holding an animal's jawbone for some reason. That's about all that I remember before I woke up.

God, that was a weird one. A freaky one too. Probably one of the freakier dreams I've had in recent memory.

There was a dream I had last night where I saw somebody I knew who died recently. It almost led me to tears, though it seemed to have only happened inside my dream even though it felt real.

I've noticed how external stimuli can sometimes influence dreams. For example, I had this dream where I and some others were wondering where this music was coming from. I woke up and it turns out I fell asleep while listening to the radio - which was still on.

Another time, I dreamed I was walking in a gloomy old place with curtains everywhere (think backstage in a theater or something). One of them fell on my neck and, being over 10 meters high, was heavy and was about to choke me with its' weight. I woke up to somehow getting tangled in the sheets in a way that I was about to be strangled by them. Strangely, I wasn't really scared by the situation. I just untangled the sheets and went back to sleep, I think.

I've also had the alarm clock's sound show up in my dreams also, but usually it just terminates the dream before I hear it IRL.

Took a nap earlier today. Had a dream that I was floating on my back in an ocean, and it was night and the stars were out. The ocean was still and calm, and it reflected the stars so clearly that I couldn't tell where the water ended and the sky began. It was a very calming dream.

I had a weird dream last night actually.

I was living on campus again and I was hanging with this girl and for whatever reason not only did we know WWE superstar Bray Wyatt, but he was also a student at the college and lived on campus. So we visited his dorm and chilled out. And some other girls came and I remember asking him if he would be in character and he just laughed it off. So we're like playing vidya and shit and it was chill until someone turned the lights off and he started speaking in riddles and doing that backwards crab walk thing he does across the table. But then he stopped and we all started laughing.

So like me and the girl dip and we go to this big auditorium where theres this big show thats gonna feature other wrestlers in a play for whatever reason. And we were with a group that was gonna attend for free but in order to go for free we had to hand out chicken nuggets, biscuits, and butter to the entire audience. So I was on chicken nugget duty and there was this like special needs kid handing out the butter and he said it really weird like "HEAHS YUH BUTTA" And the girl I was with started laughing at him and I was displeased with this.

So we go through the entire auditorium and I've got one or two more nuggets left but theres still like 8 people who havent gotten nuggets. Like 4 people didn't have biscuits and everyone had butter (Don't ask me how that worked out. It just did.) And our supervisor says that its important that I save one nugget/biscuit/butta combo for myself. Girl I was with already had one so I threw my nugget in a little biscuit and got a bunch of dissapproving glares from the audience and some excited ones from the people in our nugget handing out group. I pick it up and put it towards my mouth and theres alot of anticipation for this for some reason.

And of course right before I bite into the nugget I wake up.

I hate it when I have "maintenance nightmare" dreams, or dreams about big problems to work through in general. I recently had one where my bike tire was somehow so worn down that there were big gashes in it, exposing the inner tube beneath. Other times I dream my door won't lock properly, creating a security risk. Crap like that.

Apparently, dreaming about having problems to work through isn't just a human thing - cats often dream about prey getting away, for example (according to some research).
