1. Accusing everyone of possessing CP provides intelligence agencies (who always have some agenda) with carte blanche authority to invade peoples' privacy and indefinitely "confiscate" websites for investigations, etc., which in practice just becomes a wrongthink law.
2. Current CP laws (or current in 2012) put someone who observes child abuse in just as much life-ruining legal hot water as the actual offender, even while trying to report it to the authorities. I'm pretty sure this is still true, since the feds tried to prosecute people with Hunter Biden's laptop footage, which possibly contains underage prostitutes.

For 2) there had actually been attempts to prosecute those reporting CP, many years back, mainly because prosecutors wanted easy wins. Keep in mind that ANYTHING you see on your screen must be downloaded so you can see it - which means you must have downloaded it to report it. Laws as written, that makes you criminal.

The other bigger problem is that now it’s even easier for the feds (or anyone else for that matter) to fuck you. Ever accidentally clicked on a link to 4chan? Bad luck, there was a sketchy image down there somewhere, and now an illegal thumbnail preview is somewhere in the browser cache files… or the feds will just plant the shit on you. Or your ex. Or anyone else with access to your computer and knowledge of where to get this.
They could even remotely hack you, sign up to your website and upload the stuff, RAT software to do so has been in the hands of every script kiddie for the last 20 years. The feds don’t even need to, they could put it on your computer during the raid or even later at the lab… See all the highly sus cases where witnesses in fed tomfoolery where suddenly found to be owning gazillion terabytes of child pornography.

Practical example: Remember when trannies used to spam CP on right wing subreddits to get them shut down? Now imagine one of them hacking KF, uploading their stash to the server, and embedding it at 1x1 pixels size hidden somewhere. All our computers would be downloading it. Then the tranny hacktivist takes the member IPs and leaks them to the media and cops at the same time, the media demands action while the cops raid homes and take devices, and wowzas now they have smashed one of the most prolific clearnet child pornography rings with thousands of CSAM files recovered from hidden files and browser cache!

The idea here was to raise the legal requirements by not making possession, but acquisition illegal. Same concept for drugs, illegal weapons, etc. Then the feds wouldn’t have had to only prove you possessed the contraband, but that you deliberately went looking for it or produced it.
Nevertheless, while this would strengthen the „innocent until proven guilty“ aspect, it obviously brings its whole own set of problems with it. „Legalizing possession“ is bad optics and a slippery slope, it would be probably better to raise the demands on the prosecution for a conviction, re-defining „possession“ to „knowingly possessed with intent“.

Obviously nonces would abuse any loophole. There are more worthwhile battles to fight, with better optics. Once people are willing to plant CP on you, laws can’t save you anyways.

I still have a problem to somehow wrap my head around how he got caught. So, he developed this Online-Serve, sourcehut, that allows you to create static web pages with everything set up for you: DNS, Certificates, the whole thing. He then uses his own Service to write a draft of his report, that is, for some reason, visible to the world, probably because of the machinations of his own service. Because it issues a certificate automatically, Web-Archive archived the draft site immediately, and since then, the world was able to see that the report was accessible under a subdomain of his sourcehut-hosted blog. Did I get that right?

The best explanation I’ve found (not sure what all was said ITT) has been here. (Archive) The fun thing is there’s multiple links to us which surprisingly were not completely brigaded to [dead].

Essentially this pedophile faggot used the same IP address as the website *with his own fucking name* to host the RMS report, and still has a valid SSL certificate on the server, which is basically the best proof you can have of a site existing on an IP address. Additionally he made subdomains (as an example, subdomain.domain.com) on the website *with his own fucking name* which included more valid SSL certificates, and the IA parses all valid hostnames it can via Certificate Transparency logs, which included his subdomain. And after using *his own fucking name* to pen this libelous assassination attempt he proceeded to lie (Archive) and say he wasn’t the guy who wrote it, going so far as to say the depth of his report was “astonishing” and “alarming”, essentially stroking his µdick over it.
