Probably not a great plan for them to keep posting on here and admitting that the username they claim is doing illegal things is them. That eliminates one of their better defenses, which would be forcing the prosecution to prove it was them who said it. Sometimes they fuck up and are lazy with gathering that information and cases get thrown out on that.

What's kind of interesting about this whole situation is that according to random shit I read here and there, keffals might be really pushing the case for the decentralization of the internet right now. Apparently she's provoking some kind of perceived purge in twitter, soon there'll only be troons and sympathizers in that app, basically.

I imagine it must be quite quiet there because of the difference in users compared to twitter. If you only consume social media lightly it could be a good alternative but for those people who are rabid shitposting machines and the like it could be a bit slow.

tbh there is a bit of every place, but like you say, for avid shitposters and meme peddlers it's really slow to not constantly see more posts stroll down their TL. Plus, due to the relatively small userbase (compared to other sites) it doesn't offer the dopamine rush that other places do when getting likes. And let's not forget about the federation thing and you needing to get savvy on blocking other instances if you don't want to see the odd picture of lolicon or dickgirl appear there and wondering "How the fuck did this shit get here?"

This is exactly everything summed up, that the US has to lose if they give up the battle for freedom of speech. Decentralization by itself won't work because they will eventually come for any site where people are allowed to say the emperor has no clothes.

The only long-term solution is to change the law to regulate providers of essential internet services as common carriers, i.e. if they want to provide these services at all they have to provide them to anyone. That's what Cloudflare initially said their position was for their anti-DDOS service, but because it was just their """policy""" and not something they were legally required to do, eventually the trannies were able to false flag them into submission.
