DSP's Amazon Wish List - https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3RGWWKZJKJL5A

This is a bad idea.

A $69.25 tip pays for a $59.99 game, PayPal fees, and B&O tax. He doesn't have to pay any federal income taxes because 100% of it goes toward legitimate business expenses.

A $59.99 wishlist purchase pays for a $59.99 game. He has to pay federal income taxes on $59.99 and potentially has to pay B&O taxes on $59.99. This probably ends up being $10-15.

Whichever DSP fan is reading this, drop DSP an email and ask him to confirm this with his accountant.

I just wonder how long it will take before a new computer, PS5, laundry machine, livingroom tv, car and other not stream related stuff starts appearing on it...
"Someone emailed me last night asking if I can put a new *insert expensive item he already wants to buy* on the wishlist, and I mean, I coooould, I guess. You know what I mean? I don't expect anyone to buy it, but it guess it wouldn't hurt to add it, and it would be a huge benefit to the streams if someone was really generous, know what I mean? I just can't afford it myself right now."

I think this being a bad idea depends on another factor too: if Amazon gifts directly replace the cash-in-hand donations, then yes, it's a bad idea and he'll basically fuck himself over.

But what if tips keep coming in as usual* and he gets the gifts in addition to those? Or what if the number of gifts, i.e. games, (vastly) exceeds the amount of cash he'd normally receive and would be able to spend on said games? From his perspective, that wouldn't sound bad to me.

*kinda hard to say what "tips coming in as usual" defines as, since the monthly amount of tips tends to fluctuate (sometimes heavily), but still.

It would be great for him if that happened but I don't think it will. It's harder to go buy him something off his list and people won't get any recognition for it.

"Nuh-huh, this game sucks online, dood. Nothing I could do! *SNORT* Well, anyway, thanks to TheOldNode for gifting me that horse riding equipment kit I had on my Ahmahzon wishlist. Let me get you up on that leaderboard, and thanks for the support - I really appreciate that. *BURP* Scuse me."

I guarantee he thinks he's going to get the same amount of tips on top of his wishlist goodies. He thinks his YouTube audience and his twitch audience are completely separate, with no crossover whatsoever, so he probably thinks Amazon is some completely untapped revenue stream.

he will need a new computer and laptop eventually. The lemon is 5 years old and who knows how old his laptop is. I'd imagine he will need new capture equipment eventually as well.

He will upgrade those things the day after all of them catch fire. He doesn't care about his equipment; as long as they let him stream resource-light games and lord over his chat he'll keep blowing his money on alcohol and turkey burgers and instant-wins on whatever pull-tab Skinner box shit he plays on his phone.

So if I'm reading this correctly the guy that already had shit with the IRS and owes them money is trying to low key scam them again? How will that play out?
Is he actually not aware he has very retarded trolls who will fuck with him if it can cause him trouble?

He's extremely aware which is why we get things like him refusing to sell his priceless figurines on eBay and instead trying to set up some kind of autistic silent auction system like Sotheby's only it's for retards.

There's always been a part of me that never believed the tax story. He's never provided many specific details; a lot of what's been figured out has been people here and elsewhere pouring through the Washington state and federal tax codes trying to work out exactly how he fucked up and how badly. Remember the Magical Folder full of Important Documents he brought to that one vlog? The one that very likely could have been full of blank paper? That's the most we've gotten from Philly boy. There's always a crisis, as has been pointed out by many astute people here. The one before was MUH HOUSE but I think he was losing control on that one because so many people know he owns more than one property. Tax woes are much better - lots of people hate them (even people who don't pay any, as much of his fanbase I'm sure doesn't) and they can be made to appear to be a recurring problem - need more money to pay taxes, get the money, then owe even more money next year.

This is all presupposing you're both a pants-on-head idiot and gullible-is-on-the-ceiling naive.

That's not to say I think he's never fucked up on his taxes; I think he has, and that's where he got the idea, but his mistakes were very minor and easily solved via manuvering on his part or a bailout from his parents.

I think so too. I do believe he has some minor financial issues, due to the fact he's an idiot when it comes to money and spending.
I personally believe he simply found a way to get money out of actual retards, and it works very well. He makes around 10,000$ a month, there is no way he should need people to buy him games and tip him so he can fucking eat. I really hope that the people who give him money will one day struggle for money and be forced to think about how they wasted it.

Hey Phil, can you put this on your wishlist next? Smelly mongeral

Umm, no!

Soap reminds him of Le.... umm his former roommate. This person spent all day making soap in the garage instead of cleaning or cooking. His former roommate was abusive towards him and now he can't use soap or products containing soap. Nothing he could do.

So this whole thing is just a way for Phil to force his fans to send him codes to unlock the digital download of a game they have purchased for him, because either he thinks it's a loophole that doesn't count as income or he thinks it's so sneakily obfuscated there's no way for the IRS to find out.

He just got on a payment plan for his unpaid 2018 taxes a little over a month ago and he's immediately trying to come up with some grift to turn a small percentage of his income into under-the-table pay to defraud the IRS. The funny thing to me is if Phil were smart there is a way to do this very simply and not have to report it as income. Someone sending you a digital download code is essentially someone transferring the deed of ownership to you and you are required to report the 'fair market value' of that donation at the time received as income.

It's seem like, especially given his recent completely misunderstood explanation of how 'gift exemptions' work, that he doesn't understand this or he would be trying to grift his fans into also sending him a donation to cover the income tax on whatever wishlist items they donate to him. I think he really believes his incorrect idea of how 'gift exemptions' work in that as long as people don't buy him over a certain dollar amount of purchases he is not required to report it as income.

I will laugh a lot if this dumb motherfucker creates a public, easily trackable list of unreported income while he's already on the hook for unpaid taxes.

IANAL, but I was wondering about this too, just because it's a gift doesn't mean it's not taxable but I don't know what the real deal rules are. Would be curious to hear from someone who actually knows Washington tax law.

It's not state specific. If you run a business and someone gives the business stuff, it's taxable income. If you don't want to pay taxes on it, don't accept it. Businesses don't get to do "free" shit for people and accept "gifts" of supplies necessary to do business and walk away with untraceable, untaxable income.

Phil is 100% Italian so technically he is allowed to operate under Mafia rules. Extortion money or "gifts" are tax exempt.

He can only use Axe soap because it's so full and thick
