Duke Nukem Forever 2001 Content 4Chan Leak (viaDuke4.net)

-Almost every chapter is present in some form. A huge chunk is playable, a huge chunk is block-outs with no enemies. All of the E3 content is there.
-Not just the editor, we will be releasing the full source code too.
-All weapons are functional with the exception of the chainsaw and the freezer.
-Do you have any date on when you are gonna leak it then? June.
-The editor works. We also have the engine and UnrealScript source code and have written instructions for compiling it.
-Two builds, but only the content for one.
-It is Unreal Engine 1, like the final game.
-There is no complete game. It was never finished.
-The E3 2001 iteration but not the E3 2001 build.
-The shrink ray is in the game, it’s the first weapon in slot 4.
-The theme is just the Megadeth version. It starts playing as soon as you boot the game.
-Bombshell is not visually present in the game at this point, there is a log file showing that her model was deleted.
-The strippers can be seen and interacted with when you first enter the club. By the point in the game that was recorded, most of them are dead.

Seriously, if this is anything like the original Duke 3D (and the fucking beautiful ION FURY) I think it might actually be the best game ever?

It's not out yet. In fact, only the leakers have access to it right now. They say it will release next month, but a lot of people are skeptical after years of waiting. I'm riding full on the believer train: the leakers in the 4chan threads did all sorts of Q&A stuff with videos and pictures, no way they won't just blueball people like that after getting so much goodwill.
 
How come we got a final product that was ten times shitter than this scrapped alpha build? Is it wokeness, incompetence, what? If the goal of making games or really anything else is to make money what is the point in deliberately making your product much lower quality on purpose?

This article shall best answer those questions of DNF's troubled development.

TLDR: Brossard kept switching engines as he wanted DNF to be "THE next best FPS yet." Take Two couldn't do much about it (yet) as DNF was self funded.

No, and I hope these faggots don’t touch it until well after fans of the game get a swing at it, if it’s real, first. Civvie and Gman have terrible fan bases who will 100% ruin this for everyone.


I wish these fucking leakers would just drop things instead of trying to hype stuff up for no reason.

To further explain what went wrong, DNF went through SEVERAL engine changes, from Quake 1 to Quake 2, to finally Unreal. Then, George Brossard looked at all the shit being done at the time and figured "Duke should have that too!".

Only problem was, George would have the actual devs at 3D Realms pretty much disrupt their work for some feature like dynamic lights and stuff. The 2001 build was THIS close to completion, but then George wanted a unique lighting system that totally FUCKED the game. The devs had to redo all the models, maps and everything in between just to make the game run properly. THEN Unreal 2 came out, and...

Repeat ad nauseam until Gearbox picked up the series, 3D Realms went under, George Brossard became a tarnished name and things went dark for the longest time... Until now.
