Duke Nukem Forever 2001 Build Discussion

Truly is amazing how increasingly more pathetic this restoration project keeps getting. If Gianni wasn't so spineless, he'd just reply back to JSJ with "Blow it out your ass"
It's already bad enough Duke's OG VA is a massive faggot, now the guy doing impressions of him is competing for that title.

The damage done to the image of Duke due to all the memes and Giani is maybe even greater than DNF itself.
Keep Dreaming. It would take more then shit post memes to ruin duke harder then DNF.

We talking, you need to have the Restoration Project get completed with more then only the weird ass shit like duke saying "trans right", but then have it blow up all over youtube like Fallout The Frontier fallout did with pedofile furry and other shit. That get em into damage control over dukes image and start cracking down. Also start cracking down on any other fan mods as well.

But if fallout frontier was anything to go by. 7 years at least before DNF Restoration gets done that's being generous. Add like 10 years onto that because of Forever name, and the people working on it. We all most likely forget about it by then. That is if the mod even gets completed in the first place. Yeah fat fucking chance. :story:

Jon Saint Jon is a faggot.

edit:

Gianni is embarrassingly weak.
Holy shit he is weak. If this baby tier drama shit is the kind of stuff that makes something around 5-6 tweets, god I hate to see what real drama might do to him.

He might bunker in a hole and write 100 tweets about " Mean words people said to me."

Like if you read the full shit. JsJ clearly has envy, but doesn't seem to outright hate him unless I am missing something here.

>a project for a game about a manly-man badass has contributors that act like pussy faggots
Ironic

I don't think this guy is being a faggot. I think he's being very careful with his words because (1) JSJ was one of his mentors and (2) he has to be careful in not burning bridges. I don't think you guys realize just how insular the VA community is. It's very difficult to find work and it's very easy to lose work. Just look at the Vic Mignogna incident. There's no telling what connections JSJ has and he could easily tell his buds not to hire this guy and that's the end of it.

Nah, pretty sure people would have loved it. I remember people being super excited after the trailer, and awaiting the game very eagerly.
From what I saw in the Civvie11 video it looks kind of similar to DNF 2011. That's why I don't think fans of Duke 3D would have liked it. From all the complaints I have seen about DNF 2011 the Duke 3D fans seem to have wanted a modern version of Duke 3D. They didn't like a lot of the new stuff introduced in DNF 2011. Some of that stuff is still in DNF 2001. People that were new to the Duke Nukem games didn't like DNF 2011 because it just wasn't a good game. I think a lot of people have convinced themselves that they would have liked DNF 2001 because of DNF 2011. Like a video game version of the grass is always greener on the other side.
I was beyond hyped for DNF 2001. What's leaked suggests I would have loved the game. I wanted aliens, babes, Duke kicking ass, and huge explosions. And what we have looks very good for a 2001 game. Doom 3 and Chronicles of Riddick wouldn't be out until 2004, and it was clear that those games had to make serious compromises in map complexity and enemy count to have normal maps and stencil shadows everywhere. They could have launched this in 2002 or 2003 and made a big splash.
You probably would have been the exception and not the rule.

Did you play the leak at all? It feels like a late 90's and early 2000's FPS.

You know, this is the case where copyright holder should smack the gavel down.

Let me elaborate:
The vast majority of the audience knows about Duke as the "funny meme muacle guy" and the overblown negative perception to Forever.
Just because we played and grew up with Duke does not mean that others did.

I disagree. People didn't like DNF2011 because it added a lot of bullshit to it. It was slow, at release it had a two weapon limit, and it had many, many turret sections.
DNF2001 wasn't like that. They might look vaguely similar because one evolved from the other (to the point where there's still code from 2001 in 2011), but you can tell that the gameplay, tone and story changed quite a bit.
DNF2001 was basically going to be Half Life 2, but then Halo dropped in the meantime and feature creep resulted in more features from the following military shooter genre to seep in.

Halo, Doom 3, and god knows what else influenced the 180 that DNF became. Big question is if George Brussard would have look at the bloody humunculous that the 2011 game was and decided to cut a lot of the chafe while also delaying the game by yet another 2-3 years?

I also find it funny that the 2001 version has acid rounds for the shotty which is an influence from Resident Evil 1 with Jill's grenade launcher.
