Any information on how that works? it sounds so weird.

New update for the 2001 project.

The 2011 project has also made a lot of progress.
I can't really tell what they've done in the 2001 version that wasn't already there apart from making the terminator shoot(while still not moving). The jittery and uneven mouse movements for sweeping shots bugs me, there is a function for smooth programmable flybys in that version of Unreal.

Pretty much nothing. The Dev streams they do show a tiny bit more progress, but from what I have seen the main things are that duke has new lines, they added some secrets, and they made it so you do not get stuck in objects when loading between levels. Unless they are hiding some huge stuff from us, the project is not that interesting so far. Hopefully more happens soon, or we get a demo so we can see how bad/good this actually is.

I get them wanting to build hype for their project, but you’re absolutely right. They have nothing of real substance to showcase right now. I’m going to refrain from being a pessimist because I would love for something cool to come of this, but slapping more vibrant textures around the map isn’t going to sell to many people.

Furries and troons are working on it.
Take that as you will.

I suppose the lack of real progress speaks for itself then. And hey, when it’s released and doesn’t live up to any of its expectations (does it have any?), they can always play the victim.

Isn't it wonderful when history repeats itself? Someone check if George reincarnated.

I can't give away too much, but while there is no doubt some promising stuff...I have a bad feeling about this project now.

The people working on it, some are very talented, but many seem to be somewhat..."ideological" and I have caught them in interviews and other places talking about how "bigots need to be deplatformed" and how they need to be responsible with the content in the game (not using the exact words). They also kicked out the original storylead for very petty reasons, and one of the people working on the story is a very far left type whose made a stink over very inoffensive stuff in the game (not counting the placeholder stuff which should be removed/changed anyway).

To be honest, I am not sure why they are working on the story much at this point besides what's already in the leak, just seems to be dumb to put that much energy into it when they are still working on the first chapter.

There are some very good people working on this, but I don't think this iteration of the restoration project is gonna go that far. Hopefully though, and others have said this, if they can tweak/fix the engine/renderer/editor enough so that it's quite easy to use and more stable, maybe we can see a healthy modding community around this leak, maybe even see a "completed" DNF 2001 someday from another team.

This is why you don't let troons on your projects.

It's actually people who buy into the far left ideology that are the bigger issue, since not every trans person is insane like that.
And that's not me being all "They aren't the issue!", just it's not as simple as them being behind everything. Many of the people who were saying that crap were not trans, they were "Trans ally" types.

Troons... Troon adjacent, no matter. All deserve the woodchipper. It sucks to say but you cannot let leftists work on video games, especially a project like Duke Nukem that is fucking known for its offensive and juvenile humor.

The best person for this kind thing is someone whose more centrist in general. Far left/Far Right ideologues tend to just be bad news, as they won't make anything genuinely compelling as it'll feel more like propaganda.

EDIT: To elaborate. By centrist I don't mean a "Both sides suck and just as bad" kinda way, but I mean someone whose more chill/level headed/rational/understands what people truly want and expect and (importantly), wants to provide joy to people rather than just saying incredibly patronizing and divisive political rhetoric and slogans. And helps to not see customers/fans as braindead troglodytes that need to be shown the light.
