Dumb Shit on Wikipedia

It's Wiktionary, not the main site. But the category page for "English offensive terms" has over a 1,000 entries.

Rename it NOW!

Scotland and Wales aren't England but giving it an "offensive" tag is absurd. It's like giving "California" an offensive tag because some Eastern European didn't understand the US State structure and didn't know difference between California and Texas. Ignorant? yes. Malicious? No.

I'd agree but the thing is this: it was an entirely different group of editors who seemed to have restored the image (which was only made possible when the opposing legion of triggered fucking idiots crying "copyright!!!!" stopped replying on the talk page for some reason). For almost 2 full years the cover art was missing, and it never should have been removed to begin with.
Maybe their private Discord was shut down.

I noticed, by the way, that the person who added that bullshit copyright FAQ is an employee of the Wikimedia Foundation. One of the strongest supporters of this change (and of deleting the article entirely) is a guy named SirZPthundergod9001 who has a long history of being called out for disruptive edits to metal-related articles. He was the only one who supported the most recent AfD, which was initiated by someone who admits on his user page that he abuses the AfD process to manipulate people into adding more citations to articles rather than doing it himself. Interesting stuff.

They collected a remarkable number of nigger variants. I admit to never having heard of a niggerologist.

There are separate citation pages for niggerdick and Niggertown; the latter I understand because of the sheer number of citations, but the former has only one. Should I be asking which one of you did this?

Someone there scans Niggermania for neologisms derived from nigger.

You missed the best quote for niggerdick:

2014 February 27, Reb Biker, “Good Morning, Niggers!”, in alt.flame.cincinnati, Usenet[3]:
Good morning, niggers! On this beautiful day, may your crack pipe be full, may your
watermelon be heavy, and may your bullets fly true to your intended homie's brain! We
White folks haven't figured out whether your brains are in your niggerdicks or your black asses, but it's one of those two since that's the two places yall always aim for.

For a change, this isn't a dumb shit on Wikipedia post, but an actual "Wikipedia finally did the right thing" post. It's absolutely ludicrous that one of the most vital details of this album is actually back on the page (because I generally expect complete drooling idiocy from WP at this point). Where it belongs. Where it should never have been removed, because that shit was retarded.

Yes, it's a disturbing image. Yes, it's fucked up. Yes, the fact that fucking faggot Euronymous had the immediate response on finding his dead friend with his brains blown to take a picture, like a goddamn faggot, is part of why he really got what he had coming when Varg finished him.

But it's seriously the most important thing about that bootleg and the image really displays the degeneracy and insanity of the whole black metal scene of the time.

Somehow, they've always been totally okay with the cover for the Scorpions' Virgin Killer.

Can't imagine why that's never been controversial.
Wonder what Varg is up to these days. Haven't heard of him since they kicked him out of YouTube.

They do it all the time now for anything "dead name" related. I've also seen it start popping up on celebrity pages (non tranny ones) claiming vandalism or some shit. Its very odd given what wikipedia is supposed to be.

Edit: For example, Demi Moore has tons of edits removed with a blanket "Tags: Undo Reverted possible BLP issue or vandalism"

Theres been longtime rumors that there are editors or mods, contracted, or maybe even employed by PR Firms these days for celebrities or political figures, in order to keep certain court cases/scandals/details out of their wikipedia pages, because the first thing an NPC is going to look for is the wikipedia article.

These aren't rumors, there's a fuckton of paid editors on Wikipedia who work for PR firms that clean up everything from corporations to politicians to celebrities, and all the website can do is force them to disclose that they are being paid for their edits.

Do we have any proof of that though?

The other day they featured some 18th century Russian guy from Ukraine which used all the usual hohol Newspeak like "Kyiv" and "Kharkiv." There's a stunning amount of articles on figures from that era of Ukraine which I can only suspect is to push a modern Ukrainian nationalist POV on English speakers. Articles often cite the Encyclopedia of Ukraine, which based on the glowing reviews on English Wikipedia, is a hybrid of a late 80s Soviet source and a translation prepared by Canadians (i.e. Ukrainian nationalists) with their own additions.

At the very least, OUN crimes are still vividly described but that's because trying to minimize them would get all the Polish nationalists and of course the Jews angry.
This guy right? This shit's egregious, I think Keev is the only instance of Wikipedos using modern spellings for city names in historical articles. Can't wait for all the academic articles on Imperial and earlier periods of Russian history to Hoholize names.

To sperg a bit more about the obscure Indonesian politicians being featured front page upon their death, we're at 3 this week. JB Kristiadi was nominated by, of course, user Jeromi Mikhael, ever dedicated to putting Indonesia on the map. Meanwhile, Indonesian wikipedia has no article for the politician, let alone front page mention of his death. 3rd worlders get off my fucking internet

It's not unusual to see the Ukrop name for Kievan Rus principalities that were located in modern Ukraine. The biggest offender is Halych, which appears to have been called that in English-language scholarship for decades (which makes sense because Ukrainian nationalism came from that region) so you'll never see it referred to anything else.

Ukrops get a lot of privilege other nations don't. For instance, the official name of Turkey, Turkiye, is not used on the article on Turkey, nor the articles on Istanbul, Ankara, Ataturk, or anywhere else. There are no references like you'll see in Kviv-related articles that says "now Turkiye". Very interesting.
