Dumb Shit on Wikipedia

I noticed this tacked on to the article about the classic "Romanes eunt domus" scene from Monty Python's Life of Brian. You know, the Latin grammar lesson scene. (link)

fucking why.png

It's just making fun of how Latin teachers acted in British schools, it's not that deep.

Impressive. Very nice. Lets see their articles on American and European internet brigades, like the literal state sponsored ones from the British Army PSYOPS division or the professional concern trolls of the US State Department.
I'm sure Wikipedia won't mind if I put the same shit into the page for the IMF, US AID, Radio Free Europe, or other glowie operations.

Joke cannot be just a joke even when it's a joke about situation so old that Kipling also made fun of it:

Beetle, when you’ve quite finished dodging the fresh air yonder, give me the meaning of tendens—and turn down your collar.’

‘Me, sir? Tendens, sir? Oh! Stretching away in the direction of, sir.’

‘Idiot! Regulus was not a feature of the landscape. He was a man, self-doomed to death by torture. Atqui sciebat—knowing it—having achieved it for his country’s sake—can’t you hear that atqui cut like a knife?—he moved off with some dignity. That is why Horace out of the whole golden Latin tongue chose the one word “tendens”—which is utterly untranslatable.’

The gross injustice of being asked to translate it, converted Beetle into a young Christian martyr, till King buried his nose in his handkerchief again.

Unsure if this has been covered before but holy crap:

As an aside: I've been plumbing the depths of the community talk pages and I don't think this site can handle the levels of pure concentrated autism and retardation on the wiki, so we point and laugh at the breaching retards while fearful of the depths underneath.

For the very reason Nazis are banned, Communists should be as well. If the desire is to excise extremist ideologies, rather than preferentially push one extremist ideology over another, at least, but that's not the case since Wikipedia is essentially Communist at this point.

Yeah some guy literally found and replaced nazi for communist and caused much seethe on the wiki with his WP:NOCOMMIES, so much so that it has been obliterated from the site. Here's a screen cap of a portion of the user who made it's talk page.

Here's the guy who made the No Commie Essay's user page:
it contains a pretty funny histrionic screed, as i've said the oceans of autism on wikipedia are vast and terrifying.

WP:NONAZIS has to be one of the most commonly cited "essays" on Wikipedia. You can page through its thousands of invocations here:

The disclaimer at the top that it's not an official policy is no deterrent, and it's frequently cited to shut down users who raise concerns about flagrant bias in articles. And to ban users. For example, in this thread a while back we discussed Bedford, a former admin and active contributor who was permanently banned citing this essay (for Confederate sympathies). You can find many user talk pages where users have been told they are banned forever citing merely WP:NONAZIS or WP:BLOCKNAZIS (the same redirect).

There are related essays such as "No Confederates" and "Hate is Disruptive":

The former includes such absolutist statements as

It always starts like this, it's a perfect example of adhominem attacks. A bunch of the Nazi Beliefs don't even make sense, like "Non-Whites want to kill Whites" is a nazi belief? What? Does that mean we need to delete articles about anti-white movements like Black Panthers and shit? Or Islam and terrorism relation? Or the complete non-sequiteur of hating globalism is nazism?

Interesting to see someone wanted to delete it and made arguments on this terms, pointing out the nonsense and superfluous nature of the essay. And they got pretty much bullied into withdrawing their suggestion of deleting under the argument of "no one will vote for that, just give up and save yourself the drama".

The term "Cultural Marxism" refers to a far-right antisemitic conspiracy theory that misrepresents the Frankfurt School as being [...]

- "Cultural Marxism conspiracy theory", Wikipedia

Of course the SJWs who edit Wikipedia would claim any communist sabotage of culture is "wrongthink" "an incorrect conspiracy theory" pushed by the "wrongthinkers" "far-right" -- most likely in yet another attempt to "gaslight" people into thinking that "woke" is the natural way of thinking, or that Western culture isn't getting worse.

They deliberately misinterpret and mix up Cultural Marxism with Jewish Bolshevism, and refuse to accept the existence of the Critical Theory school of thought because too many people noticed it.

I like to make these sorts of "people" mald by just linking the literal commie books and articles on it.

From my understanding, MjolnirPants created the "No Nazis" essay, but it was originally a subpage of his userpage. It became a pseudo-official essay when "TonyBallioni" moved it to "Wikipedia space" on February 23rd, 2019, with no input from MjolnirPants (as he was blocked at the time) and minimal consensus. TonyBallioni isn't currently an admin, but seemingly was at the time.

"Leroy Patterson", or "Leroy08", made the NOCOMMIES essay. Curiously, a day later, this account was found to be someone's disruptive sockpuppet account. In the block log for this user's original account, you can find TonyBallioni being the one to issue a site ban a few months prior to this incident. So it seems that a blocked user was angry at a specific admin, and so, in the midst of an otherwise unrelated bit of drama over the original essay (centered around essay ownership and whether it should cover all racists, and not just the notsees), dropped a find-and-replace edit of said essay, for the funny. It also appears that MjolnirPants is responsible for the "communist correction" of that part of the talk page, under an alt.

As I sorta implied the autism is fractal, but thanks for the in depth research, I can't stomach any more Wikipedia autism for a few months.

Featured list that is updated multiple times daily. 2 weeks go by with 120+ edits in the meantime. Yet no one has thought to correct this text layout glitch.

It's all because someone added a new column for 2024, causing the numbers spill onto an extra line. (And no, this is not browser or OS specific. I checked.)

If you just change the graph's width to 490 (an increase of a mere 10 pixels), you can kick it into the long grass for another year. Mobile layout will still be fucked, but that was going to be fucked anyways.

No Nazis?

So who were the Americans, Brits and Russians fighting in WW2? Mysterious cryptids known as "germans" or something?

Russians killed way more Russians than Germans did, this isn't controversial or secret to sane people capable of reading history books. Russians killed more people, period, and were genocidal to their minorities, too. Ask the minorities Stalin removed from their homes en masse. Hell, he was setting up the infrastructure for Jewish death camps when he died.
