Dumb Shit on Wikipedia

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
It seems someone got seriously bent out of shape at sci-fi authors. Specifically, Tom Kratman, Michael Z. Williamson, John Ringo and Sarah Hoyt. There's been a relentless attempt to delete their Wiki pages for 'not being notable' by this sperg. Their reasoning being that none of the references were 'credible'. I guess Baen Books is just a hallucination and veteran status can't be easily verified (hello, DD214).

Now, I grant Kratman is a weirdo (hell, he and Williamson have had threads here), but this is just silly. I gotta admit, though, Mikey Z had the best put down I've ever seen in regards to this bullshit.

:story:
Guess they should've had more friends at the clickbait sites like Brianna Wu and all those other irrelevant people who still have articles.

I just randomly remembered today that 2/3 of the "hot pocket" article used to just be about the Jim Gaffigan standup routine about hot pockets. I'm too lazy to comb through the history to find an edit from probably ten years ago. They still mention Gaffigan in the article, but it's been heavily cut down to four sentences.

Cloudflare literally provided coverage to an ISIS affiliate, as expected of their content nuetral stance, but apparently 8chan is what needs to be in the header.

the talk page is interesting. a user claims a twitter brigade is behind the recent negative header revisions.

'see, the wikipedia article we wrote agrees!'
the mod pinged here is a former wikimedia foundation employee whose most edited articles is like a laundry list of twitter activism causes. I'm sure he'll maintain a neutral stance here 🙄

From the Antifa thread.

Also, apparently Wikipedia claims that Klan membership quintupled from 2016 to 2017, for which they have absolutely no sources. Sounds pretty much like muh "OMG

Total lack of sources, numbers that aren't even in the article, not even a [citation needed] in sight.

This is what passes for "encyclopedic" at wokeipedia.

I feel as if not just the quality of their information but also the quality of their writing has suffered as well. For example, I tried reading their article on Thailand a few weeks ago and it was riddled with grammatical errors.

I used to correct minor grammatical errors, typos, put in Oxford commas where appropriate, and other tedious shit I autistically noticed. I quit doing that when they stopped giving a shit about whether their content was factual in favor of whether it was woke. I imagine a lot of others have, too.

What I don't understand about Wikipedia, is how they can justify deleting pages that have existed sometimes for years, without archiving their talk pages. So you can't actually see how a decision was made.

I'm not big on wikipedia knowledge but that statement irks the hell out of me. Most people who work on history books, scientific papers, sociology, and encyclopedias to name a few things usually keep those around for the very reason you said so. Just nuke the site at this point, it's really embarrassing.

We should start our own wiki, with blackjack and hookers.

They don't justify it. The tranny cult that runs Wikipedia just fucking does it, and fuck you if you don't like it. All those fake rules they have to look like they actually have standards and procedures are a lie. They'll just ban you if you actually are dumb enough to expect them to be followed.

There is a darkweb wiki that been in development for a while. It's really committed to neutral reporting (at least for as long as it remains untainted by the pedos and troons). The only downside is that at the moment it doesn't have nearly as much information as the clearnet wiki and there also aren't nearly as many active editors due to the simple fact that the vast majority of the population will probably never see it.
