It's not exactly untrue. He was attacked during the election for his tepid views on Christianity and it was alleged that he was a "freethinker" (read: anti-theist) by the Democrats. Whether that was true or not, he didn't publicly avow a religious affiliation except to circulate pamphlets saying that he affirmed the scriptures to stave off those attacks.I got some fresh historical revisionism for you guys
Here's a little snippet where they try to insinuate lincoln had no religious affiliation. you know the man that evoked god quite a bit in his speeches and arguments against slavery
