Dumbass Americans arrest ninth grader for being called Ahmed and knowing how to build things.

Bullshit. Give the race baiting a rest. Kids get suspended for all kinds of stupid harmless things in American public schools, regardless of race. If anything, this seems downright justifiable compared to some of these:

Only one of these kids was outright arrested, all of the others were suspensions, even if they were for bullshit reasons. And the kid who was arrested at least made some what of a disturbance, even if it was still horribly disproportionate in the response the school gave to the kid, as evidenced by the lawsuit they took against the school for what they did. None of them were accused of bringing what the school thought was a "bomb" to the school.

I understand people can be too quick to jump on the race card at times, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen at times.

Well, it seems that this was just some dumb misunderstanding that blew way out of proportion. It sucks, but life sucks in general, so what do you expect?

I feel the need to point out that this probably would have happened if he was white. When I was in High School, me and all my pale friends had the misfortune of being viewed as "the Columbine" type and we were often searched unfairly and dragged into the office. One friend of mine was arrested and suspended for "terrorism" and his crime? He had a made a list of people he liked and did not like. This was all pre-911 too.

I think this is a very important point. Pre-911, Columbine was what really shook America. Any kid who looked even remotely "alternative" (like goths, metal fans, etc) was suspected of being a school shooter in the making. Then 911 happened and the goalposts shifted. And in the past, it was Japanese-American citizens in WWII, then Communists during the Cold War...

When all the post-911 fervor finally dies down or some new group poses a bigger threat, the cycle will repeat itself. It's sad (:_(

Mohamed, a freshman at MacArthur High School, insists he repeatedly asked officers to call his parents while being interrogated. Mohamed was questioned at the school, then taken in handcuffs to a juvenile detention center, where he was fingerprinted and interrogated without his parents present, according to police and Mohamed.

Texas Family Code is clear this was not supposed to happen.

“A child may not be left unattended in a juvenile processing office and is entitled to be accompanied by the child's parent, guardian, or other custodian or by the child’s attorney,” Section 52.025 states.

Mohamed did not see his parents until he was released from a juvenile detention center, according to police and his family.

Mohamed also alleges that Principal Cummings threatened to expel him if he didn’t write a statement, which Burke says she “can’t fathom.” (Eventually, Mohamed's family wrote a statement for him that said, “I built a clock. The police think it’s a bomb.”)

This is the sort of case that civil rights lawyers have wet dreams about.

As someone that knows how to make a digital clock, I'm just surprised his prototype was so big.

When I was in junior high I was hauled into the principle's office and interrogated for two hours about whether or not I was planning an attack on the school. Why you Ask? I checked out a book on the Columbine massacre from the school library and they found that suspicious. My parents had to threaten to sue just to get me an apology.

What the? Then why the fuck did they even have the book in the library? As a honeypot?

Something else notable. What do you do when you actually believe there's a bomb in a school?

If you didn't say "evacuate the school," you are from Texas.

Because that's something they didn't do in this case.

That's hilarious. How can people be this idiotic?

So if I had checked out a book on vacuum cleaners, would I have been accused of being a homemaker?

I heard about this story and immediately wondered about the teacher that reported him and got him arrested. No idea why, but I imagined the teacher being:
1-) Female
2-) English teacher

It seems that was the case:
During English class, the clock beeped, annoying his teacher. When he brought the device up to her afterwards, she told him "it looks like a bomb", Ahmed said.

"I told her, 'It doesn't look like a bomb to me,'" he told the Dallas Morning News.

But the English teacher kept the clock, and later in the day Ahmed was pulled out of class by the principal.

See? There's a little profiler inside each and everyone of us.

I wonder what is going to happen to that teacher now. You know there's doing to be some sort of "call for justice".

Yea that's a good point. If they thought the device was dangerous they would have evacuated the school. They obviously knew it posed no danger so why call the police? Also for those of you going "race isn't an issue here" why did the police officer comment "Oh yea that's who I thought it was" when Ahmed entered the office? I think it went like this:

Hello 911.

We've got a suspected attempt to make a bomb at our school.

Ok, dontcha have one of them there moosleems down there? We'll send 8 officers and tell them it's a brown guy. they'll know what to do.

I would have said get out, but yeah, maybe do something about those other people too.

Also, his clock beeped? what kind of clock does that, unless he turned on the alarm.

I hope the kid gets the biggest fucking "we're sorry" package possible. But judging by the "hoax bomb" comments that will not be the case.

As for the why did his clock beep? He's fourteen. I don't think he can be faulted for building a clock that beeps. And for all we know it could have been an indicator for low battery levels.

This whole thread makes me go what the fuck?
Seriously I know anti muslim feelings are high and Islam in general worries a lot of people (in some cases it has a genuine cause like ISIS) but a lot of it is unfounded, this was a kid a rather smart kid who made a clock for gods sake and some one over reacted and called in the police who didn't act correctly and handcuffed the kid Protip - if your a 6ft+ 200lb dude with a gun you have noting to worry about when there is a unarmed, 5ft 6in 90lb child who is complying with your requests and asking for his family to be called, keep the handcuff's in your belt pouch you wont be needing them.

I genuinely hope as @CornetteFace said the kid get's a good fucking apology out of this, but unless the pressure is kept on them I doubt that's going to happen.

Justifiable? No. The kid built a clock for a project.

The articles you posted are ridiculous & unfair, yes, but please don't use them to justify the unwarranted mistreatment of another kid.
