Dumbass Americans arrest ninth grader for being called Ahmed and knowing how to build things.

Justifiable? No. The kid built a clock for a project.

The articles you posted are ridiculous & unfair, yes, but please don't use them to justify the unwarranted mistreatment of another kid.
Basically what he's saying is that it's justifiable because pretty much all of America is filled with paranoid, gibbering lunatics who fantasize that everything they don't understand is a threat so he's only suffering a sort of average amount of oppression.

Couldn'tthey just check the invention instead? I mean yeah today's world is a messed up place but taking the kid to a juvenile detention center out of suspicion is extreme.
Not only taken to a detention center, but also interrogated without his parents present, despite repeated requests from him to let his parents come.

Well there goes any future chances of this kid ever revealing any inventions he makes again. Chances are he'll be traumatized for life and will never pick up a screwdriver again.

Every time I hear of a kid who's been bullied, traumatized or outright arrested for having a curious and active mind I always wonder whether we'd have warp drive and hover boards by now if people could just let clever people be clever.

This happened in the area I live in. For those of y'all who think him being Muslim and brown had nothing to do with it, no it had a LOT to do with it. In my high school even the brightest kids who were Muslim got treated like this. So I really wasn't surprised they handled this the way they did. You can't go anywhere without running into white people who are suspicious of dem Muslims who are in cahoots with NObama!

God I hate my state.

Looking at the picture of that kid in cuffs is hard. Like, the distress on his face is so fucking genuine, I don't know how the people involved in this whole thing could see that but still go right on through with it. It's the kind of thing that really can only be sustained by ignorance and paranoia. All on its own it's sad, but what makes it worse is the police chief's attempt to defend it by saying that the kid should've been more "forthcoming", rather than just admitting that his officers made a horrible error in judgement right along side the school staff.

Sometimes I like my state. Other times it embarrasses the shit out of me.

I'm pretty sure that if clever people were allowed to be clever, a large chunk of the world's problems would be over. Sadly mankind seems to be destined to be its own instrument of doom.

Now he actually will build a doomsday device.

Well fuck. Now I will have to build my own bunker...

Hover boards, warp-drives & flying cars? Have you seen the utter mayhem people nowadays can get into with a vehicle that can only travel on two axis of motion?

Looks unsafe.

All outside metal parts are supposed to be grounded. His electric conenctor do not even have a ground, and his transfo is exposed.
I would have confiscated it until the end of day as being a safety hazard. The 120V could very well make contact to the metal casing.

But this doesn't look like a bomb at all.

ANd I wouldn't say he made a clock. He wired a digital clock to a digital display.

Okay, Texas- you take a really intelligent, creative young person.

Then you racially profile him, humiliate him, scare the bright blue fuck out of him, yank him out of his school, interrogate him without his parent present, all the while showing a thorough sense of disregard for any of his reasonable requests. What do you end up with? You end up with a really intelligent, creative person with a long list of legitimate grievances at the State.

Congratulations. That's how you make a terrorist.
