It's all excuses that sound good but at the end of the day there were babies being born in Berlin in 1945, there were babies being born in the former Yugoslavia as it fell apart in the 90s, there are babies being born in all sorts of impoverished and war-torn parts of the world today. One of the great abilities of the human race is how we can just figure things out as they happen. The whole "but what if the economy is 'too bad' to raise a kid?" or "I'm not good with kids" is just an excuse. Any man can figure it out if he just tries and is willing to go out of his comfort zone and think beyond just himself. There are many such cases on both sides, men and women. Years ago I used to look at those screenshots of 40-year old women on dating profiles with "Kids: Wants Someday" and laugh but in reality there's just as many men like that.He gave a lot of reasons for not wanting kids (the world is a scary place, kids are expensive, schools are gay, he's not good with kids, etc) which may all be true things, but I still want to have kids one day no matter what's going on in the world.
At least you figured it out early enough that it could be a clean, easy break (as clean and easy as any breakup can be, at least). Imagine if you had been with him for a year, or even just a few months, with more dates under your belt, before he let it slip he doesn't want kids.
