I've kind of stopped watching Kruggsmash now. Since he announced he was going to drop the retro style in favour of the Steam version things haven't been the same.
Ah so I'm not the only one. After his unannounced, long hiatus, I just kinda stopped watching him. Surprised he did switch to the steam version though with how he kept saying he would stick with the legacy.

I wonder if doing the saga that was Scorchfountain burned out his brain almost for good? Things change when your hobby becomes your job. It can stop being a passion and turn into an obligation if you don't keep your thoughts about it in check. I liked some of the more experimental short forts Krugg did afterwards but he was clearly losing steam even after the hiatus.

Him rolling back on his word about sticking to legacy was the final straw for me. I gave the Steam LPs a chance but it felt wrong. There's a real charm to seeing things happen in Krugg's limited texture pack and then having those events brought to life with drawings. But when you have those drawings appear in front of much more detailed backgrounds it doesn't have the same punch. For all I could know Krugg might be happier now with Steam than he ever was with Legacy, but it's not my thing anymore.

Yeah he got waaaaay carried away with Scorchfountain. With the nature of DF and how he was actually doing things, just trying to stitch together random events, the way he ended the series was a real let down for how he built it up.

I have a question, maybe you folks can help me out, i do ii need to raid Elves in "good" biomes to get a unicorn?

You can capture them in cage traps and then train them. Embark on a good biome (forest or shrubland). Also if you have elf traders, they sometimes bring them.

Warning: unicorns are actually pretty badass and can seriously fuck up an untrained, poorly armored and armed dwarf (or several of them). If you have unicorns in your embark you should probably also have cage traps around anywhere near civilians are just on general principle and you'll end up with some.

They're not enormously useful despite their formidable dangerousness because you can't actually war train them, which is too bad because they're be great for that. You could mod it in though.

Anyone see that Kruggsmash is now using a Pooner furry/feathery artist for his illustrations? It's some total no name low level twitch streamer too so Im thinking Krugg knows about her because he has bought furry art before.

I am so fucking glad I pulled out when I did now, though I had my suspicions this was going to happen when Troonfox Games approached him and told him - not asked him - to make tutorials as part of a collab between him and other big DF users. I think he was in their discord too so him getting groomed into furry shit was inevitable. He'll either troon out or, more likely, become a very vocal ally of them.

Scorchfountain was a mistake. *sigh*
