E3 2014 thread

Well, the new Zelda looks pretty sweet, but I'm not sure it looks sweet enough for me to justify buying a Wii U over a 3DS.

I'm really excited for Dragon Age : Inquisition. It's looking good, but man...Its fanbase is horrible. So much butthurt over romance options.

What's wrong with the romance options this time?

I remember when romance options in Bioware games was just a neat little addition.

Nowadays if Bioware didn't release an RPG with like 10 multi-sex romance options people would mass boycott the game.

The female elf companion can only be romanced by a female Inquisitor.

Blasphemous! How dare they have a defined character in the game that isn't either heterosexual or bisexual. This will be the worst thing since Dragon Age 2 had that guy who would flirt with the male lead.

EDIT: Oh, and to keep in the spirit of the thread...

  • Super excited for new Wii U Legend of Zelda (whether the featured character turns out to be a girl or not).
  • Excited to see Palutena be a fighter in Smash Bros, not sure what to think about Pacman.
  • I really really hope No Man's Sky is going to be as amazing as it looks.
  • Assassin's Creed Unity's setting is amazing, but the protagonists seem to barely exist. If you can't give us a co-op AC without making it a sausage fest, at least give us someone who's as interesting as Aveline or Ezio.
  • The Division had an amazing trailer, but I'm still reserving judgment until we start seeing how the gameplay turns out.
  • Alien: Isolation continues to look like everything I ever dreamed of in an Alien game.
  • The teaser for Rise of the Tomb Raider was appropriately awesome, and if it manages to improve on its predecessor, I'll be 100% on board.
  • I really really want to see what the new Star Wars Battlefront is like, disappointed that we didn't get to see gameplay.
  • The presenter for Sims 4 seemed a little too frank about the manipulative and sadistic nature of playing the Sims games for my comfort.
  • Far Cry 4's villain is a lot more entertaining than I thought he'd be. I really liked the trailer.
  • New Rainbow Six game looks like a fun game to play with friends.
  • Very excited for the Grim Fandango remaster. It's one of those games I missed as a kid and I can't wait to finally get to play it.
  • Nathan Drake looks a little weird, but Uncharted 4 still looks like it's going to be great.
  • Finally, we're going to get Playstation TV over in the US! :D

I liked what ubisoft had on display a lot. Rainbow six, the division, even the new AC, I thought they had a lot of good things going for them... but what is it with their obsession with tacticool gamer chat? Both the division and rainbow six had tons of it, and it sounds kinda cringeworthy and really fake. I'm surprised they left it out of the AC Unity demonstration.

P/R, trying to appeal to "core gamers" and not "casuals"

If they think trying to be hip and edgy will get the neckbeards interested they'll do it. It's as transparent as Call of Duty putting advertisements on energy drinks and junk food.

With Assassins Creed it's a bit different in that it takes place in a more contemporary setting, and the multiplayer for those games is usually a bit more involved.

E3 was pretty much a waste of time. Most of the "new releases" are just re-releases from the 360 and PS3. It's kinda pointless. And so far I haven't really seen games that have interested me besides AC Unity, Destiny, and Arkham Knight. The release of Halo CE-4 is dumb, because they already have a Halo 2 anniversary coming out (which looks like Halo 4: 2) , and the Halo 5: Guardians kinda advertises both Halo 2 Anniversary, Halo : Master Chief Edition, and Halo 5. They do love to jerk off to da Mastur Cheef.

Nintendo waved the Zelda-heroin at me, and I can feel the itch. I probably won't buy a Wii U yet, but damn they made it tempting. Looking foward to Alien: Isolation, and Abzu.

Alien: Isolation seems to get what made Aliens scary. Instead of mowing down hordes of them with a gun, it's just a big agressive scary monster that wants you dead. Can't wait to play it.

Abzu looks beautiful, reminded me a lof of the Ecco series which I love.

This is actually something I perked my ears up over E3 more than anything else. Since Grim Fandango was one of the only games I had growing up and I played it through a considerable amount of times. I was waiting patiently for ResidualVM to get stable enough to complete the game before playing it through again.

However the one thing that killed my enthusiasm for the remake was Sony announcing it for the PS4 and Vita systems. Without a PC or at the very least a PS3 version I probably won't get it. Then again Tim Shafer has mentioned "talks" about other platforms, so it is within the realm of possibility it will be ported to the PC. But I won't get my hopes up just yet.

Still it is one of the greatest adventure games ever made, and stands up with the greats in the genre. It would also sell like hotcakes today considering how vast a legacy it has.

Can't let Skyladders have all the plastic statue money.

9_9 I know.... It made me a bit irritated that they just reavealed a toy gimmick like this.... But if Disney Infinity and Skylanders are making money, I guess Nintendo figured they could get in on the action.

It's a pre recorded VoiceOver so there isn't any dead air during the demo gameplay.

I wish they would change the time period. Is every future AC game going to take place in the 18th century now? I've always thought it would be cool if they went backward in time, they don't have to either go forward or stagnate.

I'm not really disappointed with this E3 but it really makes me wonder if I'll ever be able to enjoy another one. Basically almost everything was leaked (besides Nintendo stuff but then you go "Well of course they are making another Zelda") if you pay attention to what goes on in gaming news and I wouldn't be surprised if it's like that next year.
