Used to be a big fan of his, his decline is really heartbreaking to see, dude looks like a crazy hobo now lmao.

It doesn't even look bland, it looks horrid. It looks worse than when they showed it previously where it looked like a mid budget game you'd expect out of Focus Home Interactive. Now it looks like some shitty mobile game made by a team in Borneo or some shit. I've always been of the opinion that Platinum post Mikami leaving was overrated as fuck since all their games post his departure were basically just reskins of Bayonetta or MGR but Babylons Fall looks like some student project. Enemies having almost no reaction to attacks, aesthetic that is a horrid mesh of "modern low poly", terrible models, generic as fuck looking world, a service based action game. Everything about it looks like the game equivalent of water from Flint Michigan.

I wonder what the story is there as to why Mikami fucked off to Tango Games?

Tabletop gaming is what I'm interested in transitioning into perhaps, it's been made Woke as well, but because it's all new to me I'm less invested and bothered by that, there's also old gamebooks of course which can all be downloaded for free as well.

Alright Dom we get it, you love the 2000's, you have posted nonstop doom and gloom in this thread about how you love and want to go back to the 2000's, and I assume this is true in other threads you post in at this point, but if you have to stretch by including a localization then maybe they're more similar than you portray. Every year is going to have some good games, but the general trends can either be good or garbage, and both 2006 and 2021 are garbage. There's the exact same push for system horsepower and graphics over gameplay.


The best thing about PC is that there's such a huge backlog as you don't have to switch a generation every 5 or so years like consoles do, so you can always just play old games on your new machine.

you can open it to people if you do routing and tell it to connect to a ip instead of localhost granted you can host shit.
it's "single player" because you don't have to worry much so it has content like scaling player stats to match 40 instead of just one. i've read something about bots so i'll take a look at it later and i think it's only for versions below cataclysm. this E3 left a sour taste in my mouth. really sour.

Regular care and maintenance is part of the fun of collecting something. I fixed my pin connector over a decade ago and circuit board repairs are a piece of cake. More to the point, I've already archived all of my cartridge and optical media by turning them into ROMs. Bro, I'm running circles around you. You could have bought yourself that GBA SP on eBay by now. That's a snazzy system. What are you waiting for??

Quick reminder to some people posting in this thread - these are fucking video games. Drink some water, go outside and wave at the government satellites tracking your every movement, come back in, play a game you enjoy for an hour, and calm your autism down.

That said... I've been watching/following E3's since 2004-2005 and I can saw hands down, if this hasn't been one of the worst years, then it has been at least one of the most tedious outings I can remember.

So much of everything feels like it was developed by committee. It astounds me that despite all of this push for diversity and inclusion, it feels like I just watched the same thing, the same six or seven character stereotypes, over and over again.

It's like I went into a restaurant that has 300 different chefs and instead of getting 300 different meals, they all made essentially the same 5 plates over and over and over again.

I think what makes its worse is that part of the E3 charm has always been the spontaneous moments. The "you're breathtaking" moments; the "Twilight Princess" reveal; the "Bam! Snake in Smash" moments. Or even the "giant enemy crab" moments. So far all this year has provided close to that is Ubisoft's "Avatar" nutpunch to anyone expecting maybe a Splinter Cell or BG&E2 update to wrap up the show, and whatever the fuck the "We must stop the Chaos! Are you the Chaos?!" game was.

Honestly, the only times I got excited was when they announced the Fallout Pitt expansion... which disappeared when I realized it was for Fallout76.

Despite all that, I can't say it's been the most "disappointing" (although it is definitely up there). For me, that still goes to E8 2008 (Nintendo's fall from grace) or E3 2013 (Microsoft's suicide attempt). Plus Microsoft managed to not completely shit all over themselves today, so that was nice.

It still works and I enjoy the experience more on the original hardware. It's just like with my cars. I could re-sell them but I'd rather have the car because I like to drive them. It's fun, enjoyable, educational and it makes me happy. Money is not a pursuit that I deem worthwhile because it's all fake and magic numbers. I can pop the hood on a car or a old electronic and have a great time learning new stuff and meeting people. It adds intangible value to my life in a way that flipping something for cash cannot.

This argument wasn't made either, nowhere did I say that "2021 and 2006 they are both exactly the same with shitty games fuck them" I simply said they were similar and heading in a similar direction, and I didn't say anything about the quality of the games this year compared to 2006 and to say otherwise means you are "full of shit".

For anyone following along that actually has an interest in archiving older software written to obsolete hardware, I can recommend the Retrode. It isn't cheap but it does work. You can cover a good chunk of Nintendo's early systems as well as the Mega Drive/Genesis if you get the attachments. You can also separately back up save files and re-write them back onto the cartridge if for example you want to change the cartridge's battery. Optical media are pretty easy to pull via emulators or other types of software which you can look up for yourself. Once you get the data onto your computer you're pretty much set in terms of your archive. And as far as I am aware, as long as you aren't distributing your own ROMs, you aren't violating any laws.

So yeah, it's clunky and it is easier to just download stuff from the internet. But it's an option and a neat project. Just being able to retrieve save files from certain SNES JRPGs was worth it to me. But your mileage may vary.
