Gaming has peaked. It'll never be great again. Maybe good, maybe better than the last year or recent years. What I mean is it might be dogshit in 2024, but maybe 2025 will be better, so on and so forth. But it'll never reach its highest heights again. You can't look at a year like 1998 or 2004 and ever expect we'll see something like that ever again.

It's kind of like wrestling. It may be good, but no matter what it'll never surpass what it was from the mid to late 90's. I'm sure there were fans in the mid 2000's that thought wrestling might be getting worse but it'll be as great as it once was one day... we're still waiting.

Call it blackpilled, whatever, but there needs to be a substantial societal shift before we can expect gaming to get better. The edge is gone, the free spirit is gone, the passion is gone. Add to that, everything is corporate now. It's not about making great games, it's about making money, and a little subversion on the side. Funds before fun.

What really fucked a ton of things was Corona. But it was kind of telling that even the Saint's Row developer had to come out and say the game wouldn't be all that different from the norm to try and get away from being branded a woke reboot.


Also Jim Ryan wasn't fired after saying to keep politics out of games and to respect other people's opinions.

Video games is one of the industries that would have been impacted the least by the China Virus. You can do your job from home and mail your work in.

Video games is one of the biggest bullshitters when it comes to blaming China Virus for delays and concerns. It's not like they're selling refrigerators and can't get shit in; they're moving an increasingly-digital product or printing discs which aren't exactly in limited supply.

When this idea that mobile app "players" will ever converge with core gaming crashes and burns.

As for the coof rationale for why game dev studios aren't ready to show shit after 3+ years of development, that doesn't really line with the "we're totally more productive working at home bro" thing, does it?

Everyone was issuing delays or some shit, so either they are faking or making sure their game wouldn't be shit.

But either way corona was the excuse they used and the people in charge bought it.

Well if we're talking total counts of stuff effected by each, I think corona would have a higher kill count.

With diversity stuff that was so few releases in relation to the total number of games coming out and many releases got through it unscathed. But Corona took out everyone.

We didn't exactly have a diversity blockade where stuff couldn't get through if quotas were not met.

I dunno. I'm kind of sick of the "Corona crippled the industry" excuse when Activision was able to keep their yearly Call of Duty thing going through the pandemic. Not only got through it, but practically forced a dev to take a piece of shit that was falling apart and completely redesign it and get it out the door.

It wasn't like Cold War was a completely broken mess like Cyberpunk. It was no more buggy than any other FPS at launch and the worst sin was just mediocre presentation and lack of content at launch.

I'm supposed to believe those retards could pull of the impossible but nobody else could?
