E3 (but not really) 2022

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
Not really, it's just that most people don't enjoy calibrating their Operating system it just needs to work out of the box. It's supposed to be something in the background that you're not supposed to notice.
Do you think every linux distro is exactly like Gentoo?

Installing Ubuntu/Linux Mint is EXACTLY like installing Windows.

Ok well, where's the disc or usb stick with my product key that doesn't work? If I can't scream at an indian tech support worker who claims to be in Washington State, then installing Linux is nothing like the The Full Windows Experience®.

I have never once had to "calibrate" my OS in the 11 years I've been playing on PC. The most complicated thing involving my Windows installation was finding the free version for from the accessibility site (or something, I honestly forgot because it was just a google search for the right terms)

Besides that, I literally just download games, and play them.

Also modern consoles are hardly "just work out of the box" considering how many updates and shit I had to download when I got my PS4.

I'm pretty sure Linux still gets version updates.

Windows is still primarily geared towards business applications. It's the main reason why Linux isn't more widespread. I know some are adapting specific versions of Linux for 2023 releases but their stability is in question because some programs are just flat out iffy in the stability department themselves.

Currently it takes less time to set up a console than it does a smart TV. Televisions today while being much simpler to set up require many software updates and account passwords at this point before you can actually connect them to the device you want to use them on.

Am I the only person hoping the Harry Potter game will be good? I don't give a shit about Harry Potter at all, I can just see it being a fun game if done right. Bully vibes but with added soy. Will pirate it.
Nah, I'm in the same boat. Not a fan of Harry Potter, but an RPG game set in that world that is good and makes full use of the lore? Would probably be fun to play.

Do I think it happens? No. But I would love to be wrong.

I have an idea for an inexpensive alternative to E3 that I think would really appeal to both publishers and gamers. Instead of having a trade show to announce new games, they should have a trade show to announce game delays and cancellations instead. All the publishers could drop their bad news at once, and then we, the spited fans, could collectively wallow in our misery and hatred together for 3 nonstop days of impotent anger, stupid memes, and tweeting death threats to developers.
So, E3?
ubisoft open world games ruined open world games for years to come
Agree. It became normal to have 9000 miniquests, and the actually main story got lost.

And at that time MS specifically forbade companies from releasing free DLC and charged them for releasing patches, as opposed to Morrowind's PC plug-ins, which were free.
Yeah, MS was insane over how they handled updates and DLC during the 360 days. I remember reading all sorts of crazy shit and I'm not sure what was true and what wasn't, but I recall like, something about how all games were allowed one free update and MS would charge the publisher for subsequent ones, and that's what killed off TF2 360's planned updates. Also, lots of heavy-handed pushing for everything to have paid DLC, which is why most games had paid gamerpics + themes + extra character skins or whatever. IIRC, some of the extra characters in Spelunky 360 were paid, while just being free and built into the PS3 and PC versions.

Someone correct me if I was wrong on any of that, I never got it clear on what exactly MS' rules were back on the 360.

Honest to god I hope the RE4 remake gets announced today.
Congrats, you just got your wish
