for those unaware, ff16 looks to be a proper action game, not the bizarre psuedo thing 15 was. 16 has the combat director of DMC5, the best action game of the generation, at the helm. If you're unfamilair with the genre it's hard to explain why 15 feels so wrong and DMC so right, but it comes down to precision. FF15 only lets you set the state of the player, either attack or dodging. timing is completely secondary. in DMC, and just about every action game, timing attacks and dodging is fundamental to why the genre works. There's nothing like bashing an enemy, having his buddy come up behind you, dodge out of the way, smack him back, and then get back to beating the shit out of the original dude. that entire exchange takes a lot of precise timing and takes place under a minute, but goddamn does that dopamine hit feel good.
