These things are set up by marketing teams, sometimes the devs themselves don't get final say on the reels that are made and what's cut and it's the publisher or parent company. It's going to vary from company to company.

It's to get something out there and to show you had a presence. That can then be added to some powerpoint card and it's a thing to mention that you were at XXXX Event and got XXXX Reactions or views on whatever media platform they're using as a gauge.

I mean these events are shit, but they're shit for a reason.

Press plays a big part in investor data releases. I think the graph of Jim ryan showing how Playstation is beating out Hotpot threw some people through a loop, but that's literally the type of weird bullshit that these people want to see.

Honestly most people don't have the attention spans to sit through these whole things and would rather watch sanctioned segments on youtube.
