E3 (but not really) 2022

Disclaimer: This is as much wild speculation as the 14th was and is based on nothing. Do not get your hopes up.

Frankly I'm aiming for pleasantly surprised.
Yeah, I don't care because no one anywhere has any video games. So I'll take it, because even if it's just smoke, I still can't run away and deny reality that I'll have to wait for games, announced or not. No wonder my brother is getting out of gaming and I'm the only one who does in my immediate family, outside of mobile gaming.

There won't be a direct this month, I think.

Nintendo probably doesn't want to show BOTW2 because it's not coming out this year now, and other than that there isn't really anything to show off.

They just have enough sense not to rush out a shitty direct like everyone else did with their presentations the past two weeks.
I'm letting crazy optimism get to me. After the nVidia leak got me high on hopium for the Switch 2, I'm thinking Nintendo will tease the next Switch and go out guns blazing this June.

Splatoon 3 is a 10 million seller, minimum, and even if it doesn't really move the needle for me as a shooter it's got about 600 million reasons I can think of to market it.

Worst case, they're planning to announce the new Fire Emblem (that seems like it leaked) after FE Warriors 2 hits its first week, and they've held the video back to not sandbag Koei Tecmo. Nintendo almost always has a summer shillfest.

I'm optimistic there'll be something worth looking at, there's no good reason for them to skip a summer marketing push when they've probably got two not-Pokemon big sellers with Splatoon 3 and a potential other release for November/December.

The YouTube shit pipeline has been great with this Direct.

"It's definitely coming out on X."
"I was wrong, I'm sorry!" (this is a new thing they've been doing just this year)
"It's definitely coming out on X."
"Also SHOCKING Nintendo, you'll never believe what Miyamoto said!"

The Console Wars era was respectable compared to this shit.

But my doods, Hotline Miami was released in 2012 and I've been informed that it is not in fact a janky shitty game, but one of the indie greats. Not to mention the random bullshit simulator indie classic FTL: Faster Than Light which was released the same year. How can you not mention 2012 as one of the greatest years of gaming?
Its ok to admit that hotline miami is diffcult also git gud scrub ( agree with the FTL game that one is a roguelike so its immediately bad

Despite enjoying P3 it's still kind of strange to me how big the series became, it had a cult following at best in 2008.
The original releases were still niche in the west because they came out (4 especially) very late in the PS2's life and therefore were really only known to JRPG enthusiasts.
What really started interest was P4's anime adaption around 2010, which was a 1-2 punch of being a pretty good adaption and hitting a crest of a wave of new interest in anime as a medium, something that also spawned a more obnoxious breed of weeb, which is related to the Persona fanbase.
Persona as a series has had the 'its fans havent actually played the game', a trait shared with another obnoxious fanbase (Mother). Golden coming out soon after didnt resolve that as no-one had or wanted to buy a vita.
So the fans were eager to play their favoured series for the first time and this excitement got louder over the years until it started drawing attention from other people previously unexposed, leading to it becoming a hit seller when p5 finally released. Learning from their mistake and selling cross-gen also helped this time.

This, only not sarcastic.

I'll take "bad" games like Bianary Domain, Black Ops 2, Far Cry 3, and Xcom EU over 2007 "classics" like Deal or No Deal, Vampire Rain, and Soldier of Fortune Payback.

Its easy to cherry pick the hits and compare them to the worst of a given year.

That was because of the Giant Bomb Endurance Run in 2009, a fantastic let's play from Giant Bomb when they were at their peak. It changed the game from a niche JRPG series to a a popular series.

You are getting another remaster and you're gonna like it. Or a remake since its Capcom and they've seen how remaking RE is making them money. But we are never getting a sequel.
I could take a remake if they add all the stuff that was cut from the main game, iirc it was originally planned for the moon to be a playable area, gives me FF4 vibes

I hope they do not name the next Dragon's Dogma game Dragon's Dogma 2 if it ever happens. It would be better if they take the "souls" route of Demon->Dark. Dragon's Dogma would benefit from the liberties it would afford them while keeping/refining gameplay. And I mean, from what I've seen of Dragon's Dogma Online it does the 1000 years away thing as well which kind of indicates how "finished" Dragon's Dogma's story was.

The way that world is set up, i'm perfectly fine with the next installment being just another cycle in the wheel when it comes to the story. Didn't really play DD cause of the plot anyways, though i'll admit the last act after what you assume is the final boss fight did blow my teenage mind away back then

Hope they find a way to top *that* moment in your second playthrough, where you fight your previous character as the true final boss

God, i love that game so much

Nearly all of the indie games shown over the past few days were knock-offs or straight up rip-offs of other stuff that has sold well.

The graphics aren't the problem, the complete and utter lack of originality is. The indie sphere is where the new ideas are allegedly supposed to come from and they are all just copying each others homework.
I don't consider any of them indie games. So many of the "indie" games shown in these presentations have advantages actual indie games like Cave Story or hell, even Undertale didn't.

They have art grants, they have funding and help from larger studios, they have large teams filled with wokeoids. They aren't small teams of passionate people coding their dream game from their bedrooms. The industry has completely co-opted what "indie game" actually means, and that just means you have to dig for that good shit. Nine out of ten times you will not see many actual indie games in a presentation like these.

The reason so many of these "indie games" copy the homework of actual indie games is that they have no creativity within their teams. We saw a lot of Stardew Valley clones, and Stardew Valley was successful right? So just make a million shittier, woker versions of it!
