E3 (but not really) 2022

Don't forget the Maximo games.
Oh yes, the Maximo games would a be great inclusion, they'd probably also look great in HD with no filtering needed.

Throw in Haunting Ground, God Hand, Shadow of Rome and the Maximo Games, maybe even super deep cut Chaos Legion and you've got a strew going as I guarantee this would sell and capture people's interest.

Beyond a collection, a Dragon's Dogma 2 is a good sign Capcom is willing to give a deep cut/cult classic another chance, Haunting Ground actually has a pretty big cult following online, I truthfully think people would jump at the chance to try the original or play a sequel/reboot, it's absolutely a name that is out there and known to people even if they're never actually played it, but it's piqued people's curiosity due to it's hard to find nature and odd, unique style, Capcom is absolutely sitting on a hit if they do anything with that ip.

Even I'm surprised that HG is as well known as it is to people today as there was a period of time basically only I seemed to remember it, if you said "Capcom 6th gen games" circa around 2010-2015 it was either RE4, God Hand, DMC3, Okami or Killer 7 that got any attention, so much stuff like Maximo, HG and even Onimusha was basically forgotten by people for the longest time.

Just watch it again and realize what we've lost.

This was known for years as Sony's legendarily bad conference. However, if you had seen the following list of games dropped in a single event (*without any consideration for how the games would eventually turn out), a list like this would seem hype as fucked to the starved 2022 gamer:

A new Naughty Dog IP
A new Insomniac IP
A new series from the makers of Prince of Persia
Metal Gear Solid 4
Final Fantasy 13
A new Gran Turismo
Ridge Racer 7
Tekken 6
Virtua Fighter 5
A new Armored Core
Everybody's Golf
A photoreal version of The Getaway
PS1 games portable on PSP

Back then companies only blew their loads at E3 and maybe TGS, but now there's smaller online events throughout the year that are tailormade for specific demographics. So you're going to get more frequent drops of new shit rather than holding it in all at once.

Already you have 3 Final Fantasy games for PS5. A new Gran Turismo just came out, PSP games are on PS5, Kojima has multiple projects he's working on, there's a new Silent Hill, and a ton of other things.

Fuck Falcom is now expanding their pipeline and will be making more games. Trails has essentially replaced series like Breath of Fire and other mid range RPGs.

We didn't really lose anything.

For one a new silent hill hasn’t been confirmed. That’s been a rumor for years and it still hasn’t happened. I’ve stopped believing that shit.

And two as far as I know Kojima is only working on one game, and it hasn’t even been announced.

Not to say 2023 is going to be a bad year, because it’s absolutely a big year for the entire industry, but multiple of these things aren’t true or are rumors.

Diehard Sony fanboys will always try to convince for the umpteenth time that Playstation hasn't totally become a shadow of its former glory, or even fallen into irrelevancy for a large part of its former audience. Like it's no wonder they latch into rumors and whatever mental gymnastics as such

FF is a mixed bag at this stage, the new GT is almost universally hated, some PSP games are coming to PS5, Kojima has shown nothing of what he is working on and is notoriously slow, new SIlent Hill hasn't been confirmed and if you watched the not-E3 presentations this year you wouldn't be all that jazzed about the "ton of other things" because the vast majority looks shite/derivative.

If it's a shadow of it's former glory the first party titles wouldn't be selling in the tens of millions on a routine basis. Only GT was able to pull that off in the past but now they have multiple titles doing that good or better.

The mobile division is going to expand heavily in asia since the audience there made it known that they just want to throw money at phone gambling games. They just restructured their chinese division because it's expected to be China and Japan who will be priorities for those types of games.

God of War 2018 alone outdid the lifetime sales of Ape Escape. That's one game compared to the dozen+ that existed for the series in total. There's more good Sonic games than there are Ape escape games. Ape Escape fell off a cliff after Game #2.

Hey remember the time they tried pushing Dark Cloud as an equal to Zelda?

The series had a bad first installment and the second one just fell flat. Now with God of War they're at least within the same genre as Zelda and the game actually sold enough to warrant expanding the IP.

The first Dark Cloud does not hold up to OOT or MM, those games play just fine. But Dark Cloud is just rough until you start the item exploit glitches so the game becomes less tedious.

Thirdly, Astrobot finally broke 20 million copies sold for the series. It's the only Studio japan IP to do so. Team Asobi began as an offshoot and as of current has all the studio Japan IPs under their corporate umbrella. Astro is just a year younger than Kat, he was created a year after Gravity Rush.

He's even in the Playstation Productions opening. And they just celebrated with a wave of Astro merch since he crossed the 20 million milestone.

Arguable. Ape Escape 3 ain't gonna wow you if you're looking for anything different, but if you just wanna play more Ape Escape, it has arguably the best level design in the entire series. Plus, Mesal Gear Solid
It was the last new platformer before they descended into infinite party games and spinoffs that were all very bad. Like the effort wasn't there for 3 and you could tell due to it's short length. There are more spinoffs than mainline games.
