Bake a bone-in chicken thigh or two in the same pan as halved/quartered potatoes, turnips, and/or carrots. The vegetables absorb the chicken juices, giving them extra flavor that requires no seasoning. Also doesn't take a ton of prep or management, so you can set a timer and do something else while it cooks.

A nearby city to me has had an uptick in reports of shoplifting and porch piracy according to what I heard on the police scanner, but that might just be the holidays coming up.

Otherwise I've seen a lot of charitable folk coming together to try to help.

I had wondered if we were going to see a "Stone Soup" situation if the food stamps stopped, and it seems we are, at least a little.

What does the future hold?

its worth noting which states are doing it. you would think bigger blue states like new york or california would be bending over backwards to do something but they seem to not really give a fuck overall aside from filling up the food banks with more imported slop. which i should add is also fucking over the entire country.

if you ever get a chance check out the labels of some of the non name brand foods they give out. half of them are just from egypt or india. why the fuck are we even importing our off brand slop for the poor when we could be helping out local farmers.

If the issue at hand isn't about neutering/molesting kids, spreading AIDS or making cars gay, Californian leadership isn't interested.

I am actually surprised that I haven't seen Newsom or whomever call for emergency meetings on how to ensure poor black kids can still eat cookies. Considering he just passed a budget that set aside milk carton money for slave reparations, this seems one of those issues right up his Napa Valley, where he can press on an issue that sounds insanely progressive but doesn't actually amount to much.

Celery ruins a lot of dishes for me. I particularly hate it in clam chowder. I can somewhat tolerate it in stuffing. I don't like watermelon anything, so niggers can keep that. Fried chicken is good though.

It's a privilege to be obese. If you are obese, you have enough food and a surplus of it. Not all people on SNAP are fat, but the ones that are can clearly go a month or two or more without the benefits. This chick must be approaching 400lbs. She has no neck. She could probably go 8 months just on her fat alone easy. As for the ones that I have seen complaining and are skinny, a lot of them are scamming the system, so no real care for them either. For those that actually are disabled and not fake Reddit diagnosed disabilities, fine. For people going through temporary periods of struggle, fine, happens to most of us one time or another. But the fact is that a lot of these people view SNAP as something they are entitled to get for life even if their financial situation changes or intentionally game how much they work to continue getting them.

More money to embezzle if you buy cheap shit from India than if you bought from American farmers. Third world farmers don't have to meet EPA, and FDA regulations.
 
365 families at a food bank than normally services 280 families. November is usually busier than average, but not by that much. That's almost 1,000 people served out of one rural food bank in bumfuck. Made it fucking work, though. Why are we paying Congress, again? Gimmee hats.
