Can someone explain in simple terms to a Bong how this is happening?

It’s both Dems and Trump at a stalemate over something and so federal funds aren’t being released, hence benefits being stopped?
Basically, the current US government shutdown is because Senate Dems won't pass a budget to fund it. That means non-essential government employees will get furloughed and gibsmedats will dry up.

The reason, as usual, is Orange Man Bad. They won't vote to fund the government until the Trump admin and congressional Republicans basically reverse everything they've done this year. Yes, they have the nerve to demand that R's choose their feelings over the mandate of the voters which they lost a year ago.

Dem lawmaker Katherine Clark literally said they're okay with families suffering because it's "leverage". That should tell you everything you need to know about these ghoulish fucks.

It's a shame that this is happening, some people are honest and hard working, but still need to rely on this shit, but you won't hear about that, you'll just hear from the usual suspects.
Aren't Walmart employees one of the largest groups of employees that received EBT? An old joke, decades old now, is between new commercial aviation pilots; "don't wear your wings when you apply for food stamps."

Really says something when people are celebrating adding more suffering to your neighbors when shits already really, really bad out there. But hey, billionaires are making money hand-over-fist right now.

Hey look, all the H1B Jeets are throwing a shit-fit about it:

So why don't these rich Democrat politicians start giving out their own money, to show how much they want to give back to the black community and pay their "due reparations"?

By the way:

1. How many people ranting on their videos have sold their EBT?

2. Going by some videos, they should have gotten condoms instead of EBT.

Silly Kulak, they don't have to. They have the correct opinions, so they can hoard as much wealth as they damn well please.

A long, long time ago the Congress used to compromise and make deals to pass legislation. This was a period that ended in the mid 1990's by Newt "fat useless retard" Genwich. His "just say no" has stalled every congress since.

The GOP is currently in control of both chambers so passing a budget should be easy. They are instead trying to further bankrupt American's for their rich buddies (the ones they just bailed out in Argentina with that fancy $40 billion tax-payer dollars.) Instead of working on a compromise they've been spending the last few weeks trying to spin this on the democratic party. Thats not really a fair explanation and its standard GOP tactics.

They don't seem to be working as recent polling shows Americans are blaming the GOP for the shutdown.

Legislation for the fiscal year could not be agreed upon. Democrats were trying to renew their regularly-scheduled gibs for illegals, among other things, which the Trump administration was happy to turn into a very publicized war of attrition. As a result numerous federal bureaucratic roles are on a month-long vacation. Numerous things that require federal funding are literally working for free (such as the post offices), which means many federal employees will not be receiving pay this month. EBT is one of those things that needs to be approved on a regular basis and as such it may evaporate in November. A lot of niggers abuse EBT for junk food, but a lot of genuinely needful people won't have money for groceries.

Will the EBT cash stop too? I thought SNAP and EBT were the same but apparently it’s 2 separate gib programs.

If actually happens, grocery shopping will be awesome, for me, next month. Most of worst assholes in pajamas with carts stacked full of garbage are shopping with SNAP. I’ll be curious what stores full of only saps like me that have to pay for our groceries will be like.

Wal-Mart, and big grocery chains, will start throwing their weight around because they are the corporations who make profits from these programs.

I’d love to see what Wal-Mart profits would look like after 3 months of no welfare benefit shoppers. EBT, snap and WIC make up the majority of the store revenue in certain locations.

I've been in a situation where I barely had food, you would be surprised what you'll eat in that situation. Never asked for foodstamps, I made it work somehow. Canned vegetables go a long way, and so does rice. Ironically a lot of what I ate at the time came from foodbank leeches that took like one or two items out of it and was offloading it to other people because they didn't like the quality or food in it. I hate people that do that, just don't even go if you sneer at what you get.

I feel bad for the elderly in my small town that actually need this service, but I am also glad I'm not living in a big city just in case this blows up. Nothing ever happens here and I am glad.

What kills me is all these people look like they are capable of working. Why the fuck are we paying them not to?
"able bodied" doesnt mean "of sound mind" or "not retarded". theres a class of people who excel at factory work because they only have to do 1 job with no further responsibilities or improvisation. we don't have those jobs anymore. you give these people a job at mcdonalds or walmart and they'll do stupid shit and cost you more money in theft or liability payouts or worker's comp. they are unhirable in any service job.

I work in a VERY "diverse" area so I'm probably going to see some crazier than usual shit soon. I really need to get a fucking gun already and I really need to get a new job.

Luhqueefa with her cumbrellas, acrylic nails and gold chain doesn’t know why everyone is worried about food stamps not being paid cause deez niggas is finna put Trump inna casket just like the Simpsons predicted, ya heeer?

Here's your realpolitik answer.
Massive political unrest and revolutions tend to kick off when
1. Food gets expensive
2. Inflation spikes
3. The poor go hungry
SNAP is less than 2% of our overall budget so it's a fucking bargain or as Null called it, the chimp out tax.
Panem et circenses is a tried and true strategy; even if disagree with feeding the poor, the alternative is much more expensive in the long run.
So no, EBT at risk is not a good thing.

I'm actually terrified shitless. I almost died in a car accident in 2023. I can't physically tolerate full time employment. I already struggle to pay my hovel and the SSA sure likes to take their time with my disability and disability insurance application. Almost going on two years now.

I'm freaking the fuck out but oh well I suppose, we live in a society.
Claim that you snuck across the border and don't speak English.

Joking aside, I'm sorry you're going through this. Parasites have ruined a program that helps those who genuinely needs it.
I have looked into it. Transportation and prolonged movement are an issue for me. Ironically I am scheduled for 3 epidurals Monday. Lol
Food banks are usually tied to churches; have you tried reaching out about having something delivered to you? As others have mentioned, they're usually pretty generous and helpful.
Call me :optimistic: but I think this is gonna lead to people pooling aid for those who need it (i.e. not drug dealing moon crickets) and realizing even more that we don't need the government
There was a time when local communities helped those in need. Some would donate food, others would help pay certain bills, but with the condition that the recipients would do their best to turn their lives around. You knew who Bob and Alice were and how to tailor care for them.

But then the state took over, and Bob and Alice became applicant number NF1488; the state doesn't know who they are or what they need, so they'd just send a flat check out that they had to spend or risk losing.

It amazes me how these fat niggers get thousands of dollars in food stamps and decide to spend it all on garbage. I see it every single time I go out grocery shopping and it seriously disgusts me. My mom, grandparents, and I are barely scraping by with the little bit we get, and we spend it all on shit like meat, bags of rice, dried beans, veggies, etc. We stocked up on staples like usual so we'll be fine. It just fucking sucks that other people who actually need the help are getting fucked over like this.

Well, I hope starving their base was worth it for democrats
their base will blame trump and the gop.
