On a side note, those in the 'gimme' class whining about not having anything for Thanksgiving dinner could go to the community Thanksgiving meals held in most towns and cities. Have one in Monterey, for sure, maybe even in the town I live in. May not be exactly what is desired but beggars like these can't be choosers. Fuck bucket is empty for such critters, of course.
Its not that they want food or things, they want Gibs, and they want them with the least amount of effort possible, and they want exactly what they want, and when they want it.

they are the most entitled non-working class poors in history, really, in any other place or time period, they'd just be beaten to death.

this is why i really think giving people MREs would be an amazing cost effective idea they come with a way to warm the food
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think MREs are actually all that cost effective of a way to feed people. They are for situations where you need to guarantee calorie intake for people that can't be reached by the supply chain for whatever reason.

Anyway, people who do not do any kind of productive work for society should not be fed from the products of the labor of others, and that goes for absolutely anyone. If you absolutely, positively want to keep someone alive who does not contribute to society, then you feed them yourself. You can do so by MREs or a grain dole or a monthly box of corn starch for all I care.

There are two types of people-- worthless, deadbeat sponges and people who weren't even aware the government was shut down.

How upset you are about this topic is inversely proportional to your value as a human being.

Depends what kind. An FRH would be pretty easy even for an idiot, but I can imagine your typical groid having trouble with an Esbit stove.

The thing is even a bad diet based on buying in bulk (even crap like those giant bags of breakfast cereal) is going to keep you alive.
In the short term, sure. Eventually, the 'beetus will catch up with you.

I 100% agree on your point regarding rice and beans, though. Over the years, I've made many batches of "Texas Style", slow-cooked pork and beans using minor variations of this recipe. Four cups of beans and a few other ingredients will go a long way. But, that requires doing actual food preparation 'n shit.

Better than the usual Happening thread which is 200 pages on something that never happens.

There is probably a lot of money spent in the packaging and various heating elements. Now Chinese MREs on the other hand....

You'd really need one specifically designed for fat boons and the like. Military MREs are for highly active people in relatively good shape, often lugging around 100+ pounds of gear. Some fat boon would just get even fatter on a 24 hour ration every day.

sir, nothing ever happens.
would you look at the time.jpg

also genuine question but what do you think should be done about the mass amount of people who have zero idea how to even boil water? should there be some form of mandatory class all food stamp users have to complete?
That's what I am saying because whenever you criticize that SNAP shouldn't be used to buy bullshit, you have some asshole in the corner saying "But these people have no time to cook/don't know how/don't have a pot." Which in 99% of the cases is absolute bullshit, but they will pull out some homeless dude strung out on fent and be like "HOW DO YOU EXPECT HIM TO COOK?" Well honestly, I don't, because he should be getting food from a charity organization like the many that operate on the streets. But for the 99% of SNAP recipients who have housing, very likely they have all access to at least electricity which was why I brought up just giving these people an Instant Pot because it is cheap and extremely versatile. Can do anything with dried beans in it, it makes rice, it can sautee, can make yogurt, can use it as a slow cooker (so stfu with THE I HAVE NO TIME argument), etc. Can make meals in bulk in it. If you have 9 keedz, odds are at least one of them is old enough to babysit an Instant Pot, because let's face it, you are already likely forcing the oldest to babysit all the rest of their siblings anyway.

Honestly kind of astonishing that so many retards think the solution for their jealousy over poors getting cupcakes is to put big brother over your shoulder, policing exactly what kind of food you're permitted to buy every day, rather than giving everyone making under 50k a year access to the same level of benefits

Typically you want to entice people to strive, not stagnate, to make a functional society. Also they allow EBT at some McDonald's now so I'm forced, against my will, to pay to fatten them up and then pay for their healthcare. Fuck off

I refer you to my previous post about the topic. If you make benefits comfortable, you drive people to seek them out, rather than using them as a safety net, but one that pushes people using it to seek a higher living.

Benefits should not be so comfortable that people prefer them to being a participant in society, or else you drive people towards, rather than away from them.

Further, it's possible to believe that benefits shouldn't be comfortable, while also believing that anyone under a certain income bracket should deserve them. The ideas you tabled are not mutually exclusive to each other, you can believe both of them.
